I apologize for the sudden nature of this letter but I couldn't depart without sending a token of explanation as to my absence.

I have much neglected my business in France this season in no small part due to you, my darling, and while I regret not a moment of the time spent, my estate manager and partner is quite frustrated. Some things have arisen that I can put off no longer.

I promise to return as quickly as this business allows and, in the interim, am sending back to you a small trinket that has been weighing my pocket since the holidays.

(You see, even then I could not set you so easily from my mind.)

Give it a whirl whenever you need assistance, even if it be just to take up your hand because you are lonely or to remind you of how splendidly beautiful and clever you are, always.

Stay lovely and play a trick or two on Reginald for me.

My Darling Anthony,

I do suppose that is a very valid reason to abscond from the county without me. It would be unfair for me to be the center of your attention all of the time. I would like to see your set up over there. I haven't been to France in far too long.

I can't believe you had my box! I thought it broken and gone. I'm pleased to have it back, I will hold it closer when I am missing you. However, I will do no such disservice to your dear brother, I quite like him and would like for him to continue to like me as well!

There is a surprise for you upon your arrival home as well, though I should give you the opportunity to have me tell you ahead of time, I would hate for it to be jarring.

Missing you already, I hope business does not take too long.
