Dear Giselle,

How are you? (And Pippa and Ida and all your classmates?) It feels like forever since we’ve spoken. Your brother usually tells me a little of how you’re getting on, but I haven’t seen him for a while either – Silas, I mean. I see Linus far too often, now that we both work for the Prophet

How have the last few months of seventh year been treating you? You’re managing the workload alright? Let me know if you need any help with Charms – I still have some of my old notes if you don’t have the time to revise everything. (I don’t think I took any of your other NEWT subjects, so that’s about all I can offer; although I’m sure you’re doing perfectly well without my help!)

I’d love to hear what’s new with you, and hope you’re enjoying what you have left of school. I miss Hogwarts sometimes.

Love and best wishes,
Electra

Electra,

I and my classmates are doing quite well. Thank you for inquiring. It does feel like quite some time since we've spoken, I confess, and I apologize for that. I imagine Silas has been quite busy, what with the precursors to the season starting about now.

Oh, yes, classes have been going fantastically. Charms...is one of the classes I actually find myself struggling with, and your notes would be highly appreciated! Professor Nott's lessons are not difficult to understand, it's simply that I find my own wandwork lacking. And worse, nonverbal spells in general are a difficulty. Perhaps it's simply my Scorpio nature.

Other than such simple difficulties, I'm enjoying my final year here at Hogwarts. Though I do wish it weren't my final year. How many of my friends here will I be able to hold onto in the future? Will I want to?

Sincerely,

Giselle

Dear Giselle,

Enclosed are some of the charms notes I’ve kept, and there are a couple of tips for non-verbal spellcasting in there – I remember NEWT level being quite the step up, but fortunately for me, I had only the one practical class to get to my head around, for the rest were all theory, one way or another. Remind me which other classes you still take? But anyway, you’re a Scorpio; so I’m sure your determination will see you through just fine in the end. I have total faith.

And I have every faith you will be able to hold onto all your friends if you so choose – but, my, that’s ominous, that you think you might not want to! I can understand the sentim Whatever do you think will change? Are you all planning to debut together, and do the Season? If that is so, you will scarcely have a chance to miss them (– and poor you, you’ll always have Silas looking on, you won’t be able to be rid of him either –) although I hope, sincerely, that whatever your chosen path, you shall find the time to see me once in a while?

I am looking forward to seeing you in more than summers again, at any rate.

Fondly,
Electra

Electra,

Thank you dearly! My other classes are Ancient Runes, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Earth Magic, and Herbology. Earth Magic remains my best class, of course, with Ancient Runes not far behind. You'll recall I received impressively high marks in both on my Ordinary Wizarding Levels. I'm doing all right, as anticipated, in Defence Against the Dark Arts and Herbology, but could always improve. It would be best if I did improve, of course. I'd love to work with plants, or perhaps the Ministry.

As far as I'm aware, Ida, Pippa, and I will be doing the Season together, at the very least. Will you be there, at the Hogwarts Coming Out Ball, supporting us? I'd love to see you there, as we decend the stairs, following Miss Lestrange. I'm sure Silas, at least, will be there too. Not so sure about anyone else. Well. Aside from Father. But isn't he sort of necessary at this sort of function?

I've missed you, too.

Fondly,

Giselle

Dear Giselle,

Oh yes, that’s right. A shame I can’t help you with any of those! I could certainly imagine you working with plants – but is that true, are you really thinking of working at the Ministry? What would you do there?

I would love to be there to see you all at the Coming Out Ball, of course! I was just waiting to be invited to be polite, but I fancy I would have shown up anyway, whether you liked it or not, ha! Fathers are quite necessary, you are right, but friends are certainly more fun. I shall see who else I can round up so that we might all be back at Hogwarts for one evening more.

How are preparations on your gown for the night? Have you had any fittings yet? (Not that you should be focusing on that when you ought to be your exams, of course; but everyone must cheer oneself up with the thought of new dresses from time to time. It is as good a remedy as anything, I find.)

Fondly,
Electra
