Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Mr. Trystan Selwyn vs. Mr. Julius Scrimgeour
#1
Cash was relieved to be moderating a duel which did not involve Theo, but less than thrilled to be moderating a duel which involved his father-in-law. If Trystan Selwyn lost, would he hold it against Cash?

He performed a cursory review of the rules and then announced, "Mr. Selwyn to begin."

Ah. The finals, apparently. Trystan was satisfied enough to have beaten Prewett in the last duel, but – one more for fun, eh? He nodded cordially at Adrienne's husband – small world – and Scrimgeour, and kicked things off with an attempted babbling curse.

To have made it to the final round of the tournament had come as something of a surprise—not because Julius doubted in his own skills, but because he had trust in those of a number of other participants. Trystan Selwyn had certainly been on the shortlist of Those Who Might Make the Final, and Julius offered the other wizard a polite nod of acknowledgement as young Lestrange observed the formalities.

Poised to cast, he awaited his moment and then—moved to disasrm the other man.

His father-in-law's wand shot out of his hand before the curse could strike Mr. Scrimgeour. "Point Scrimgeour," Cash announced. "Who will begin the second round."

While one couldn't rest on their laurels and expect to be successful, Julius would never dicount the benefits of an early advantage: a point in the competition, of course, but it also put Selwyn on the back foot. For some men, an early disadvantage and their own psychology could prove to be their undoing.

In the offensive positon now, Julius went with the tried and true knockback jinx.

Not to be foiled so swiftly, Trystan acted as quickly as he could to redirect the knockback jinx at its caster.

This time, the knock back jinx collided with Scrimgeour. "Point Selwyn," Cash announced, once Scrimgeour had recovered himself. "Who will begin the tie-breaker."
