Appearance: Pale complection and fierce red hair marked her out early as magic touched within her community. She has pale green eyes. She is right handed and always dresses in a fairly traditional Romani dress style. She is 5ft 2 inches tall with a slim figure. She has several traditional tattoos adorning her skin and has her ears pierced in several places.
History:
1860 - Born in Wallachia (modern day Romania) into a large Romani family
1863 - First magical incident, accidently animated her favourite stuffed bear
1866 - Placed under the tutelage of the community elder as they travelled north east through the Hungarian Republic and then into Bohemia where she spent three years.
1869 - moved into Bavaria and worked for two years as a chocolatiers assistant before being dismissed for stealing.
1872 - Travelled through the German states and into belgium. Another stint of legitimate employment, nearly two years in a confectionery shop before her family were forced to leave their camp by the authorities
1874 - Met Cillian Cooper, a 15 year old apprentice selling barrels with his father in Northern France. His parents and hers hit it off and it was decided they should be wed. A small ceremony happened at a Catholic Chapel near Boulogne. This marriage was celebrated under old irish and Romani tradition, rather than the laws of the land. Her family opted to join his in Ireland, travelling there slowly during 1875
Late 1875 - First pregnancy failed whilst making the crossing from Wales to Ireland, stormy weather was blamed and seen as an ill omen.
1876 - Family settles in southern Ireland, Cillian's father also dies and Cillian's older brother inherits the family business, it is not a good business and riddled with debtors putting the young family under stress. Păianjen also finishes her Home schooling in this time.
1877-1879 - Two more failed pregnancies increase the distance between the couple, Cillian tries to honour his wife but with no son in sight and his drinking and family debt worsening, life is hard and the gulf widens.
1880-1884 - Păianjen begins to suspect that her husband has been disrespecting their vows but has no evidence so cannot act. Her father does believe her and there is a moment of violence between the two men. But with no proof it is all swept under the rug for the sake of peace.
1885 - A young woman work colleague of Cillians is found to be carrying his baby. Păianjen is enraged, but with divorce not an option, she takes matters into her own hands. During a night of heavy drinking the witch slips poison into the drink of her husband and watches as he clutches his chest feeling his heart stop. "Distraught" Păianjen summons help but it's too late and Cillian Cooper has passed away. Noone asks too many questions about the death of a man considered at this point to be a near bankrupt drunken traveller, so he was cremated and Păianjen was treated as the poor grieving widow.
late 1885-1886 - The two families broke apart quickly after the tragedy and the Romani half travelled to England and then on to Scotland seeking newer pastures. Eventually with them finding their present home in the Scottish lowlands a few dozen miles from Hogsmeade. Like they had many times in the past, the members of the community with useful skills travelled to local towns to make money, Păianjen and a couple of others, being magic users, found their way to Hogsmeade. Păianjen herself working in a sweet shop. After everything that had happened, she still wished to be a mother and as that was not part of her life she found herself treating the children of Hogsmeade, particularly the poorest almost like her own.
1887-current - Păianjen now lives with a group of around a dozen magical Romani in the slums of Hogsmeade and a small community has developed around them. Her tribe may move on again soon, but for now they are settled, with the wider hogsmeade community being a more comfortable fit for her people.
Personality: Growing up outside of normal society she is intensely loyal to her family and slightly introverted amongst other people, being less so around children. She does not trust "outsiders" and can be defensive and prone to anger if challenged. She is also quite quick to raise the Wand to people who she feels threatened by. Regards the children, she enjoys them and has sometimes engaged their services for casual deliveries and on occasion, very minor criminality such as shoplifting things for her or pickpocketing.
Other: Is very proficient at curses, charms, potions, herbalism and healing magic. Her English is very good but strongly accented.
