After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Happy September! It's hard to believe that it's already time for the youths to head back to Hogwarts—or is it?
Off the Rails!
Oops. Today ought to have been the first day back at school for the majority of our students, but the Hogwarts Express has broken down!
The train set off as scheduled from Kings Cross Station in London at 11 o'clock, bearing the English and Welsh contingent. Though it was supposed to arrive in Irvingly late in the afternoon before proceeding to Hogsmeade, it never showed up, having been stranded some two hours (train time) away. What does this mean?
My character lives in, or would have been delivered straight to, Hogsmeade: You are able to proceed to Hogwarts as usual, though you may notice that not all your friends are with you (assuming you have any).
My character lives in Irvingly: The train never shows up! Will you continue to wait at the station, return home, or coerce your parents into letting you floo to Hogsmeade (after all, you don't want to be late!)?
My character boarded the train in London: Welp. Looks like you're stuck in...the middle of nowhere. It is an elevated train bridge, surrounded by nothing but empty fields under a long drop. Possibly a river. The only adult is the trolley lady. She seems stressed. Hopefully the prefects are able to maintain some level of order—as the sun sinks below the horizon, it's beginning to look like you're spending the night out here!
For all characters, it's safe to say the "welcome feast" is not quite up to its usual flair! The Sorting Ceremony will be postponed until all the first years actually arrive, with those who have shown up sleeping in the Great Hall.
Charming Discord
It's here: for three months, Charming will be beta-ing its own Discord server! We thank everyone who provided their feedback, both via the original Google Forms survey and the later Town Hall! What you need to know now is:
The server will be Members Only. Players will receive the link from their buddy upon acceptance.
Existing players can check their PMS for the link—this will be sent out once the announcement goes up!
It was very important that the cbox is our primary "hang spot" on Charming. Discord is intended to add to that, not take away from that, and we don't want those who 'opt out' of Discord sometimes (or all the time) to be left out of our community! As such, you'll notice a limited number of channels available.
Lady (Amelia Evans) will be organizing a "get to know Discord" for those unfamiliar with the platform. Keep an eye out around the server for her helpful notes :)
In December, we'll be looking for another round of feedback! What worked? What didn't? Do we want this forever? All up to YOU!
For many of you, Discord is old hat; some of you are an old hat, and so it's entirely foreign. Regardless, we hope it will be a worthwhile addition to our community!

Those hoping to complete Camp Charming are reminded that they must post a completed thread as their final hoop. This thread should have been started on or after June 1st, and wrap on or before September 5th. Because I am going back to work this week, you'll actually have until September 10th to post this up <3
At about an hour before dawn, employees at the Department of Magical Transportation arrive at the scene of the stalled Hogwarts express. They were unable to get the train rolling right away so brought portkeys to retrieve the students, all of whom were delivered to Hogwarts by late morning. The sorting ceremony will be the evening of Sept. 3rd and classes will begin Sept. 6th.
In the meantime, all first years will continue their Great Hall sleepover.
The list of inactive accounts has been compiled and deactivations and list maintenance are underway :) If you lost a character you'd like back, you may post in Maintenance starting Wednesday, September 8th If you have no currently active characters you can post in maintenance immediately! If you lost a character before the AC, you can post there whenever you'd like!
Student Character Directory Updates
The entirety of student entries have been updated on the CD!
I went through and updated and formatted every student entry on the Character Directory to streamline the formatting. From here on out, student entries need to be formatted as such, Year & House (in words); Student Staff Position; Quidditch; Club Presidencies, inclusive of whatever applies to that character! For example; Edison Moony reads "Sixth Year Gryffindor; Prefect; Dueling Club President".
Please double check your entries to make sure I A. didn't miss anything/anyone and B. spelled everything right! If I missed or flubbed something, please just post on the CD and I will take care of it!
First years as you get sorted please post accordingly on the CD to have your entry updated. Same goes for any new prefects, quidditch positions, or club presidents that came after September 1st.

Charming Changes
In the best interest of the board and our members, and after careful consideration and discussion, Charming has decided that from here on out we will be an 18+ website for our members. This clearly does not boot anyone currently a member, but does impact joining for the future!

Camp Charming

Our Power Poster is Lynn, with 530 posts this summer(?!) and now I feel woefully inadequate as a human being. Bree was our Social Butterfly, having participated in five different types of OOC activities!
