Dueling '90: Jemima Rosier vs. Pablo Medina
#1
January 5th, 1890 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic
Having run some of the refresher lessons himself and having seen many of today's duelists in tournaments before, Nik was reasonably certain that Sunday's duels would not be a disaster. Still, the wizard proceeded to carefully overview the rules of the tournament, as it was certainly better to be safe than sorry!

"Ladies first," he said, smiling at Miss Rosier.

Jemima had never had a knack for combative dueling, which is why these tournaments were always a hit or miss. She could face opponents with nothing but their brute strength to earn them a win, or, as she always hoped, she would meet one with a little flair in their spell-casting. Jemima surveyed her opponent as they were brought face-t0-face, trying to discern his flaws and weaknesses (which, sadly, wasn't easy just by looking at someone).

Ceremonial bows completed, Jemima raised her wand and attempted make his eyebrows grow to such a length that he'd have difficulty seeing—or at the very least, concentrating.

Pablo smiled as the duel began and cast a spell that would have the young woman transfigured into a bird.

#4
Transfiguration was a tricky matter, and Medina's efforts were unsuccessful—possibly due to the fact that his vision made him miss the target by several yards.

"Point to Miss Rosier," Nikolai declared after clearing up the spell's effects. "Mr. Medina, the next round, please."

Pablo nodded respectfully towards the young woman who had performed quite well. This time around, he cast Incarcerous, hoping the ropes would do an adequate enough job of binding the woman and preventing her spell from being a full success.

#6
Jemima cast a shield charm.

#7
The shield charm held and Nik declared the young Miss Rosier the winner.
