Effie had been a beautiful child with pale blonde hair, wide striking blue eyes. She has a peaches-and-cream complexion which is normally clear but will breakout with pimples on the chin during times of stress. Her blonde hair is straight and goes past her shoulders, but she often has it up in a bun. Her eyes are soft, and she has a kind smile. She is 5’5 and has a slender frame. Her right hand is her wand hand, and she normally dresses in simple Victorian ladies wear, nothing too fancy, she does gravitate to light pink.
History:
1872-1882: Effie grew up in London, her family fairly successful and lived in a brick middle class house with three bedrooms. Growing up she shared a room with her sister Clem, while her parents and her brother got the other two rooms. They have a servant come daily but they do not live in the house. Her father was a successful magical bookstore owner/book binder whose store was hidden in the center of London. Her mother helped out in the store and managed the home. Her parents instilled a love for learning and books into all their children. Her parents were hesitant on their children marrying too early so advised them to be cautious and slow with their courting even their son.
1883-1890: Effie attended Hogwarts for all seven years. She was sorted into Ravenclaw due to her love of books and knowledge. She had been popular and had achieved excellent grades. Both parents died in 1889 from TB, Felicity first and then Alfred a month later. Stricken by grief, Oliver became a melancholic gambling drunk and sold his fathers store. By the time Effie graduated from Hogwarts she returned home to a household in shambles. Attempting to pick up the pieces, Effie somehow managed to get the household in better shape and had Oliver sit down with some bankers. Unfortunately, however, Oliver is unable to quit his gambling and has gambled much of their parents earnings away.
1891-currently: Realizing she would have to work if they wanted to be able to keep the house. Effie began working as a librarians assistant in London just before she turned 19, impressing the librarian with her knowledge about books and book binding. In May of 1893, Effie saw that the librarian position at Hogwarts was to be opening up for the following school year. Effie was surprisingly the successful applicant for the job due to her knowledge and her fathers respectable reputation as a book seller and binder in the magical community. She currently has a room in Hogwarts that she stays in during the school year and returns to her family’s home in London during the summer. Currently she has no thoughts about marriage as she is too busy just trying to keep her family together. Her older brother is too consumed with gambling to be concerned about marriage for either himself or his sisters
Personality: Generous and kind-hearted, Effie is always offering to help those in need. But she is not one to be walked all over, she can be firm and determined when needed. She is often sought out by Hogwarts students seeking counsel and compassion which Effie is always happy to offer. She loves to travel, see new things, and find adventures to go on. She is extremely modest to a fault and tends to be overcritical about herself. She needs at least 8 hours of sleep during the night to function well throughout the day, anything less and she can be quite cranky. When she is cranky, she becomes sarcastic and quippy.

Sample Roleplay Post: Effie stood in the Hogwarts library, on the staff side of the main desk. It was a peculiar feeling being on this side after having spent so much time on the other side throughout her Hogwarts years. Today was her first day as the new Hogwarts librarian. She had been trained briefly by the former librarian and today was her first day on her own. With a sigh she nervously made her way from the desk through the towering bookshelves to the back of the library where her office was located. As a librarian of course she had a passion for books, but the escapism she got from reading had become essential for the young woman to remain sane since her parents passing. A job where she was surrounded by books suited Effie just fine. She supposed she should be concerned about her future and in particular a future husband, but right now the immediate threat was to the family’s house so before she could think of herself, she had to pay off some of her older brothers debts. Taking a seat at her desk, Effie looked longingly at a small portrait of her family that she had placed on her desk, those had been simpler times. With a shake of her head, she reminded herself that she could not linger in the past, not when her siblings depended on her. So, with that thought in mind she quickly stood up and went back out to the library to do some cataloguing.
