Ms. Smith,

I don't know if you will remember me but I am Basil Foxwood, Professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and avid independent researcher in the transfiguration community. We made an acquaintance some few years back when you most helpfully assisted me in uncovering an ancient link between the Egyptian Sphinx and our modern variant of the switching spell for my article at the time. (It was received very well, and I offer my sincerest thanks once again.)

At present I am currently working on a rather large project concerning the amalgamous, ancient topic of animagus transfiguration. I had hoped if you had time to correspond that you might share with me any insights upon the matter you have come across in your studies. Additionally, I reach out now in part because I have found this very interesting passage in a text by a sir Larry Boyd, stating that "ancient creatures once evolved into a certain clan of witch and wizard known to the modern day as amazonians." Do you have any knowledge upon the matter or have you ever come across it in your own research? I believe I heard through the academic grapevine you may have spent some time in South America. Forgive me if I am mistaken.

I do so hope your travels find you well.

sincerely,
B. Foxwood

Mr. Foxwood,
I do remember you clearly. That Sphinx led to some great discoveries for the dig I was working on at the time as well. Was your article ever published? I'd like to read it.

I must confess my direct knowledge of the Amazonians is fairly limited. However, I do still have several contacts in the area that might have research valuable to your search. I'll send word over to them and see if any is available. If not, it might be worth it to visit some of the temples and tribes in the area. Most aren't friendly to outsiders, of course, but I know of at least two villages that are receptive to Englishmen.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Jo Smith

Ms. Smith,

Yes, indeed it was! I've attached herein a copy for you to peruse at your leisure.

I appreciate your spending a note on my behalf. I, myself, am not a man up for the adventure you endure. I am a creature of comfort, hidden between tombs and texts. However if you know of anyone interested in co-authorship of the investigation, please do send them my way!

ta,
B. Foxwood

Mr. Foxwood,
Your article was fascinating, I'm happy to have contributed to it in any manner. Have you any more recent studies I may peruse? I most confess to being considerably out of date to anything outside of what my colleagues and I are working on.

The note has been dispatched. Due to the length of the journey it must travel, I don't expect to hear back for a few weeks at the earliest. I would, however, be thrilled to meet and discuss your current investigation should you have any available time.
Sincerely,
Jo Smith

Ms. Smith,

I am delighted you enjoyed it! There is such a sense of accomplishment in sharing one's research with a colleague; should you ever wish me to return the favor, I am at your service.

As it stands, I've a few things that have been published since. I've attached them herein. One of these you will note has a co-author in one Ms. Ida Chang. She has just graduated from Hogwarts this year and is one of the most brilliant pupils I've had the pleasure of teaching. She will be starting at Flint in the fall, and frankly, she's become my right hand. I'd love to introduce the two of you the next time you are in London. I think you may well find an excellent resource in her, and she a mentor in you.

While we are on the topic, I should be thrilled to meet lest you find yourself available in this hemisphere sometime soon. I thank you again for sending the note on my behalf and await any response eagerly.

ta,
B. Foxwood
