  • History:
1868 — Annabelle and Araminta Scrimgeour are born to Charles Scrimgeour and his wife. Both daughters are born small and frail, leading to worries that they would not survive infancy. At the age of two months, Annabelle is kidnapped from her pram while on a walk through the streets of muggle London with her nanny. The culprits are a group of muggle thugs whose brilliant plan was to await the story in the newspaper and then demand ransom; however, things to not go as planned. When the kidnapped infant's name fails to appear in the newspapers, the thugs are stumped. Unsure of what to do with the girl, she is taken to a remote village in the English countryside.

1869 — After a month of housing the infant, the thugs begin to realize that she is far from ordinary. Her cries are accompanied by broken glass and shattered teacups. Frightened and fully convinced that the child is possesses, the thugs abandon her in the village's small park. Within an hour, Annabelle is discovered by a muggle couple — the Drapers — who take her into their home with the intention of finding her parents. They are unable to locate the child's parents, and as such keep her as their own. Given the name Matilda Draper, the infant girl continues showcasing her extraordinary abilities. Her parents, however, are more curious with her supposed "gift" than frightened.

1871 — A daughter name Elisabeth is born to the Draper family. Two-year-old Annabelle is mystified by the baby and spends many hours watching her. The Drapers make sure to keep a watchful eye on Matilda when she spends time with Elisabeth, as they're unsure of whether her gift could prove dangerous.

1874 — Matilda's mother begins work at the finishing school situated outside the village. Enchanted by the pretty-faced, blue-eyed Matilda, the proprietress of the school allows the child to work alongside her mother doing simple chores that include scrubbing plates, dusting furniture, and cleaning simple messes.

1875 — Matilda becomes aware of her own abilities. After her sister takes a nasty tumble and ends up with a bloody leg, Matilda immediately rushes to her side and washes the wound with a wet cloth. However, rather than just cleaning the wound as she intended, Matilda manages to make it completely disappear.

1877 — Muggles discover the magical world. Fully convinced that their daughter is a witch, they keep her hidden in their home until the uprising dissipates, as they fear she would become the victim of violence if her abilities were to be discovered.

1878 — Mattie catches a boy performing magic and confronts him. The boy is adamant that he is doing nothing out of the ordinary; however, it's fairly obvious that his words are untrue. He refuses to tell her and, believing her to be a muggle, flees the scene. In his attempt to run away, however, he runs into an unseen barrier unknowingly cast by Matilda. Feeling that he's been given his proof, he reveals the existence of magic to her under the condition that she not speak of it to anyone.

1880 — Matilda's beliefs regarding her magical abilities are confirmed when she receives a visit from a Hogwarts professor. He claims that she is a witch; there is no disagreement in the household. She goes off to Hogwarts and September and is sorted into Gryffindor. Things, however, do not go as planned. Following the sorting ceremony, Matilda is approached by a girl who looks absolutely identical to her! Though Matilda is befuddled by their similarities, the other girl is not.

It is revealed to her that the girl — Araminta Scrimgeour — had a kidnapped twin! She is whisked away by school officials who notify her natal family, and she spends her first weekend of the school year with the Scrimgeours. Her biological parents are disgusted to discover the conditions in which their stolen daughter had been living. The Drapers are intimidated into giving Matilda — now known as "Annabelle Scrimgeour" — up without arguing. Feeling upset, betrayed, and utterly confused with the situation, she inevitably falls into depression.

Annabelle is forced to return home during the holidays for rather aggressive etiquette lessons, but she does manage to find comfort in her classes. Though heartbroken by the loss of the family who raised her, she does find some optimism in her new situation. The finely-detailed dresses, calorie-packed meals, and the expensive household décor enchant the young Gryffindor.

Charms and Transfiguration prove to be Annabelle's favorite classes, while History of Magic is less exciting. She also fails most attempts at flying, to which her parents obnoxiously reassure her that a woman of her station has no need to fly.

1882 — After finally settling into her new home, drama finds its way back to Annabelle. At the sorting ceremony at the beginning of the year, Annabelle realizes that her Elisabeth is among the first years. The Gryffindor jumps at the opportunity to spend time with her lost sister. The happy times, however, do not last long; once Annabelle's parents discover that she's reunited with her sister, they forbid the two from interacting. Unsure spending the afternoon with Araminta with a frown on her face, her sister admits that she wrote to her parents—with the best intentions. Though initially angry at her twin, forgiveness soon follows when she realizes her intentions were truly not malicious. Still, after having already experienced her father's rage, Annabelle reluctantly complies with his demands. Annabelle begins taking Earth Magic, Divination, and Arithmacy as her electives.

1884 — Annabelle finally begins assimilating into upper class society, though she cannot help but feel guilt when certain thoughts cross her mind. She is introduced to many of her extended family members, including her great-aunt Harriet Barfoot who is set to teach Earth Magic at Hogwarts.

1885 — After almost three years of preparation, Annabelle takes her OWLs. Though she initially feels unsure of how well she did, she takes great relief in seeing her scores when they arrive. With passing grades across the board, she does not face any wrath from her parents—and more specifically, her father.

After taking time to figure out which classes she wants to continue with, she decides on a full load of seven: DADA, Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology, Earth Magic, and Alchemy as a new addition. She initially fancies the idea of becoming an alchemist, but the subjects prove more difficult than she expected. She soon begins fancying the idea of becoming a healer, but her parents dismiss her dreams as silly.

May, 1887 — Annabelle takes her NEWTs in May and debuts alongside her sister at the end of the month. The social interaction causes a fair amount of anxiety for the new debutante, leading her to avoid parties and other events.

July, 1887 — The Wizarding World Market brings dozens of deaths after flying tigers escape their enclosures. Annabelle is crushed by collapsing displays after attempting to assist others, and she suffers a plethora of injuries as a result. She stays in the hospital for a week. She replaced her broken wand and finds a particular affinity for her new one. The NEWT scores she receives at the end of the month confirm that she does have the required grades to pursue a healing career; however, her parents' refusal to allow her to work means that she'll have to wait until after she marries.

August, 1887 — Annabelle's father beats her, causing her to seriously consider whether she's safe within her own home. She fights the temptation to leave on multiple occasions and attempts to stay out of the household — or hidden locked in her room — for most of the time.

September, 1887 — Annabelle finally flees her home and takes refuge in her friend Clara's home. She is promptly disowned by her parents after returning to refuse home, leading to rumors and articles. She begins working as a welcome witch at St. Mungo's while waiting for the next internship season.
