Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
This year had not been one of Sweetie's most eventful years. It was a good thing for her. Drama was avoided, though this also meant a bit more family avoiding. Not as much as last year though. Peace for the young Slytherin was nice. Relaxing really. She wondered what her sisters were doing now. Darling was probably studying or off to bed. Honey might have been socializing with others in her year and house. Cupcake? Sweetie was not so sure now that her oldest sister was a debutante. Pumpkin was likely studying, or reading.
Bijoux had constantly been meowing and hissing at others. Not an uncommon thing for the small creature. However she did seem happier here. Even for a cat, Hogwarts was home. Though the end of summer had seen the cat calm to the new environment. At the moment, it seemed as though the cat was after something. Whether it be a bug or someone else's pet, Sweetie preferred that the feline stay away from the creature. "Here kitty, kitty. You stubborn girl. Leave the poor thing be."
Stay a-fucking-way from me, Aubrey menaced, in a series of hedgehog squeaks. Listen to your owner, you stupid pet. Urquart may pretend he had a cute little hedgehog called Davis, but Aubrey was No One's Pet, and he didn't like his existence to get thrown in with a lot of useless cat-shaped lumps. The cat was prowling around him, whatever the bloody schoolgirl said to it, and although he had not moved from his spot (he had been here FIRST), Aubrey may have been plotting out a number of escape routes - smaller places he could skitter into out of reach of cat claws - just in case.
Squeaks could be heard from the mysterious creature that had fallen victim to Bijoux's hunting nature. Poor thing must be living in a nightmare at the moment. "Bijoux, how would you like it if something bigger than you looked at you with hungry eyes? I'd imagine you would be quite rattled." The Slytherin snapped stubbornly. It was quite the effort to guide a creature from its natural course in nature. However, Sweetie was sure that the Hogwarts staff would not appreciate it if animal blood was to be found in a common room. And if it was a pet, Sweetie would never hear the end of it.
Watching as the cat prowled around the creature, Sweetie had almost taken it upon herself to prowl the cat in return. It was in both Sweetie's best interest, and the creatures, if she caught the troublemaker. Finally giving up words, the girl took action. Getting up from her spot, she made a grab for the cat. Earning a hiss, she had missed by an inch before the cat had dodged to the side and had begun growling. Less of a sport now, the cat seemed to have seen this as a challenge.
The girl meant well, Aubrey gleaned that much from her failed lecturing. More than he could say of many a Slytherin. Still - he took offence to some of what she was saying. Rattled? Him?
Fuck you too, Aubrey sniffed, shaking his head in disapproval. Your cat'll be rattled when I'm through with her, he thought, and stared down the cat as best he could. Shoo, Bijoux, he snuffled, in his most mocking tone. He didn't think cats understood hedgehogs, much - though maybe other animals could tell that there was something a little different about him... the most un-hedgehog hedgehog they had ever come across.
The schoolgirl didn't look like she was going to save him, at any rate - all she was doing was pissing off her pet some more, fantastic - so Aubrey decided to get the upper hand, use the element of surprise, hold off on that old instinct for flight.
We'll see who's a poor thing when I'm through with YOU, Aubrey said in a (quiet) hedgehog war cry, and scuttled forwards at full speed towards the cat. Sure, it thought it was going to pounce, but hah! Not if he did first. When he'd worked up as much momentum as he could, Aubrey launched himself up towards the cat's face, ready to cling on with all his might. I'll claw your fucking eyes out, you pussy. Just watch me.
It wasn't as if the Slytherin knew that the poor creature would be offended by what she said. How could she. What else could she do besides lecture her cat, try to catch the crafty thing, or put a spell on the poor kitty. It was in Bijoux's nature to hunt, as far as Sweetie knew. She heard more squeaking from where the poor victim hid. Any more of a panic and she was sure the poor thing's heart would give out!
"Bijoux, enough of this nonsense." The tone had a threat behind it, though Sweetie didn't really know what she was actually threatening the cat with. Just before Sweetie could do anything else, the creature decided to take actions into it's own paws. Shrieking slightly in surprise, she stumbled back a little as she watched what appeared to be a hedgehog charge at her cat. Bijoux was completely startled as well, making a confused half meow before being tackled.
Take THAT, Bijoux, Aubrey yelled, ignoring the girl's deafening shriek as he sank his claws violently into the cat's forehead fur and clung on with all his might, quills quivering and his tiny hedgehog teeth angling for one of its ears with zealous intent. Pah! Cat ear, gross.
Once the shock faded, Sweetie acted quickly. She cast a stun spell at the pair of them. Unfortunately that meant that both were frozen with the hedgehogs claws stuck in her poor cat. Scrunching her nose, she tried her best to gently get them no longer stuck to each other while they were still frozen. It likely wouldn't last long. Stupid cat.
That had... not gone excellently. No sooner than Aubrey had gotten his teeth into the cat's ear, a bright light came hurtling their way and the next thing he knew, he had frozen in place and the world had gone dark. Sh-
After a few pricks and frustrated sighs, the Slytherin finally got the two separated. "You, my dear, are in so much trouble." She grumbled at her cat as she gently set the hedgehog down. She had no clue how it got in, but she was sure that her priorities were best suited getting her cat far away from the creature before the cat could think of a new way to terrorize the brave hedgehog.
As soon as he remembered the cat attack, he craned his neck about, looking this way and that for the culprit, his mouth dry from the cat fur. He let out a little shaky sigh-squeak of relief when he saw he was once again free of it - and free, it looked like, the girl must have put him down. Aubrey tested out his legs, a little wobbly from being hit by the stunning spell. Still, free meant... free to get away, unimpeded. Live another day.
