Introducing: Leo the orphan
#1
Hello lovely ppl,

my first student Leonard is here and this is a character that really need connections!

Quick facts:

Orphan // works as a servant for everyone who will have him // 14 yo // mostly in Hogsmeade // sings for money at your tea party // tricky and crafty // Slytherin

Looking for

Friends:

Anyone at school or in Hogsmeade could be a potential friend. Leonard is generally very focused on his network because he needs it for support, but is also always willing to give back and help out.

Can keep your secrets and puts up with you at your worst.

Needs smart kids who he can pay or barter favors with in exchange for doing his homework.

Aunts and women who are charitably inclined — here’s a case for you. Who will take this boy to the modiste? He’s grown out of all his stuff.

People who have let him crash at their house during summer — will work in exchange. During the last school year, he would've asked for families who would take him in. He does not want to stay for free and for long though, insiststs to work.

A teacher:

I would love if a teacher feels called to take up this little plot about his illiteracy.

He reads and writes very badly and uses a cleverly disguised magic feather in classes to compensate for his shortcomings. He mostly gets other students to do his homework.

This, of course, spells disaster for his OWLs. Leonard really wants to stay for NEWTs.

He will be mortified if a teacher uncovers his trickery but in the long run, it might save him from having to leave school early.

He is dormmates with Maeve Buchanan II here - tough call on how they get along because Maeve hates everything lol but I feel like he'd be fine with Leo generally.

Eros Mohr is in his year! He'd be friendly despite their vast difference in status.

Winston Umbra is a professor but is kind of in his own world to notice much to be of actual help xD. Think Luna Lovegood but an ethereal guy instead lol.

Violetta DeCroix Is in the year above in the same house, the class difference might not make them natural friends but she does try to avoid too much classism when in school because her dormmate and one of her closest friends is also working class so it wouldn't rule out friendship if he sought her out. She also knows what it's like to have to start thinking on a different language for school.

I don't have much for you on the student front, but Fiona McCarthy would totally work on reading/working with him! She'll be new this term so it could be easy to develop!

Mason Skeeter would subtly try to keep him in a good path too, but probably isn't as good at the literacy stuff at the most basic levels.

Not a student, but Charley here is your resident Hogsmeade street urchin who would have been in his same first year at Hogwarts (but Gryffindor). As a similar case of charity, she might have or exchange ideas with him about who has work and a place to sleep, including trying to get him shifts at the flower shop where she works. There's also general poor-kid tomfoolery to attempt, whether in a summer thread or Hogsmeade weekends.

Millie Potts is a student, and a year ahead of him. They would have classes together, and she does have a nose about her for dishonesty and gossip. If you'd like someone to discover/talk about or generally struggle on the illiteracy plot with, Millie is your bookworm! She's also fairly smart if he wants to try to get her to do his homework for her, I'm not sure if she'd bite but she probably looks like a worthy target.

If they are dormmates I would be down to try them out and see how they mesh!

I can see him seeking her out, if only out of curiousity about her being fench. He learned many french songs to please one of the aunts who sponsor him but has no clue what they are actually about.

Let's try Fiona during the new term!

Charley and him would share a turf in Hogsmeade, so to speak. They should definitely meet!!

PS: there has been a change in appearance and play-by but the rest stays as is

How they share it would be very fun to find out. I'd be down, do you want to start or should I?

YURI!
He's the year above but thinks because he's the oldest street kid (years as a statue guarantees it) that he needs to 'look out' for the other orphans, waifes and strays - and he had the good luck of being taken in by Mr Mondragon.

He's worked hard on his education to improve so he'd be down to tutor/help. Probably not doing it for him but would definitely help walk him through it.

Let me introduce you to: Hestia

Used to live in Hogsmeade as the Barkeep at the Hog's Head, but is now in Knockturn Alley - but she's known around town as being a benevolent figure towards street urchins and offering them a hot meal/place to stay if they need it! And for teaching them to sharpen their street smarts if they so choose

Since she's the manager of the Iron Fang right now, she's more than happy to employ him as an odd-jobs person if he needs it!

It sounds to me like the strays should stick together. Down for a summerbreak thread?

Oooh I would loove for him to have a job like that. Should he take the trip to London to work a probational shift, perhaps?

I have both Themis Lyra and Anne Moony to offer to the cause!

Themis was an orphan herself and would have a serious soft spot in her heart for this kid. I can offer her as a teacher would would take an interest or could figure out how hard of a time he's having in class.

Anne would feel an affinity as she's one of the only other Slytherins that doesn't come from money. She would look out for Leo, in her own way. She could frustratingly attempt to tutor him, or wouldn't have issue slipping him some of the money she was going to use in Hogsmeade.

Would gladly take you up on that offer and thread with them, whenever it fits in for you!

Oooh yes that sounds great!!

I also have Apollonia Honeycutt who is not accepted yet but who also would likely look out for him in Hogsmeade. It's just occurred to me she's like the more legit, clean-cut version of Hestia lmao so pick your poison! Hestia would willingly help him brush up on his more nefarious skills if he wanted (pickpocketing, lock picking, etc) but wouldn't push it. Aaaaand Polly would hit him with a dish towel if she heard he was getting into trouble xDD
