(Disclaimer: Writing this as though Hogwarts has already started even though it's a bit early, because I don't want to write it again later!

Ellen Ilkin is known in Dovecot as an upright, polite young woman-- smart as a whip but never one to speak out of turn. A boon to her family's good name, which is why her new nature has come as something of a shock to much of the community. Their little schoolyard star has been whisked away to the castle beyond the horizon to study spells and hexes, and how to turn their children into newts. At least, those are the superstitions still rooted deep in many a member of her little village. No one looks at her the same way anymore...

The girl who has come to Hogwarts is a quiet one, with red puffy eyes and a a distinct aura of anxiety. She knows few faces in this place. She jumps every time a spell goes off, and twists her dark hair so tight around her fingers that it knots and frays. And who could blame her for that, really? A Dovecote girl with magic is a Dovecote girl no longer, and she never seems to receive owls from home.

For Ellen I am seeking:

• Friends! Ellen is terrified and alone and needs friends, but these friends do not necessarily need to be good for her. She's a baby with potential to grow in messed up and evil ways, or become a good person, and I am so in for either option!
  
• Anyone around the site who might potentially have grounds to contest with her father? Rivalries are fun! Old family rivalries are better :D
  
• This child is going to end up in St Mungo's Home come next summer, if she doesn't find somewhere else to go. Maybe a friend has space in their home? Maybe someone has a... use for a girl who'll do anything for approval?
  

  

I have Phineas Black II for her! Phin is awkward about blood purity--he's been raised purist, but he's destined to be disowned for supporting muggle rights, so like. XD He doesn't know what to do with himself around muggleborns.

I also have Chastity Bentley, who's taught at the village school since 1893! She definitely understands what Ellen's going through, and I imagine she pays special attention to students bound for Hogwarts to make the transition (hopefully) easier. As much as she can, anyway.

Ramona Pendergast will be an incoming firstie! Very open minded about a lot, and will be even more so at school!

Sydney Podmore is my only other Irvingly resident, but he's pretty good with kids and I assume most kids like the zoo! He's an old man now with no marriage prospects at the moment, I could see him taking someone under his wing! Would likely develop in character!
