~— A B O U T — Legend goes like this: 14 years ago popular socialite Diana Maxime (nee Selwyn) visited the Hogsmeade zoo with her three little children in tow. They were never seen again. Investigators found Diana’s wand, and a ribbon that belonged to her daughter. It was all over the news. The official story? Foul play suspected, but nothing ever turned up. The society story? Diana had very public fights with her husband and a violent confrontation with her husband’s mistress. Did she find a way to flee to the continent once and for all, or was their end more grisly? Either way, the world moved on. Her husband even remarried (the mistress). What really happened: She was turned into a cat by an evil butler named “Edgar.” Headcanon is that Edgar works in a weird crime ring with whoever was off turning people into animals early this year and tangentially related to the mistress that Diana publicly humiliated. ~plot entries~ As a cat, her name was Duchess. She and her cat-kids lived with a muggle Duke and Duchess up until the woman died ~2 years ago, which separated the family. What now: This summer, she found her way to Hogsmeade where she became Basil Foxwood's beloved pet. She moved with him to Hogwarts for the school year. This side of December, Basil will figure out she is no ordinary cat, and she’ll be returned to her human form. — THREAD & PLOT NEEDS — I really want to milk the fun awkwardness that comes with someone you thought was dead, coming back to life. <3 Some openings include: Family: She is Nephele Lestrange's sister and (ex) aunt of Timoleon Maxime. Please send me Selwyns & other UCPB families who can be shocked? pleased? dismayed? with her return. Hogwarts students or professors: Could do like 1-2 more threads where Di is still a cat. Tell or show her your secrets to make it max awkward later. Old connections: UCAB friends or rivals, she graduated Hufflepuff 1861 (5th year) and had many good parties. Were you at her funeral? Breaking the news: The fact that she's alive will be kept under wraps for now, but it won't be for long. Let me know if you want scoops/gossip. Ministry involved: Di may need a trip or two to the ministry. Could be chats with investigators, Wizengamot or something for identity creation & legal proceedings. She'll be aggressively pursuing getting what she's owed now that her ex-husband is a divorcee not a widower. She'll also be on a campaign to find her children who she says are still alive. Timoleon Maxime hates her. Hands down. Dragging his family's name through the mud and one hundred percent is going to accuse her of murder. (Maybe even the SWP string murders while he's at it lmao.) Would be want to spend hours interrogating her at the ministry? Yes. Will he? I hope so. Would he also try to pay off the person who got the scoop of her being alive so his precious family name remains sparkly and clean? Duh. Anyhow, let the games begin.

Atticus Foxwood will be shocked that Diana is a person and not a cat. More awkward threads, but at least proud of Basil for whatever comes from it. Hear that Basil Foxwood, big bro is proud of you. For once. Anyhow, Di is also welcome to stay at the Foxwood's Wayward Home while she figures out her life.

Hello, apparently we are cousins. I've just decided that Emrys very much bought into the story that she was gruesomely murdered in a sordid affair because it leads well to this little tidbit I already had in his history:

He is quite convinced that his mother's death in 1880 is a murder, though he has no proof of this, nor any clear ideas about who might have killed her or for what purpose. His growing understanding of the dynamics of his older brother's family, however, just leads him to believe that house is the sort of place one might be murdered in, so it seems perfectly reasonable to conclude this has been his mother's fate. He makes a point of visiting less frequently.

So anyway he'll be a little disappointed to hear that she's alive. Nothing personal.

I have various society types that might have opinions when it happens but I think that's it for now.

Alexander here is a firstie and his muse insists that he wouldn't straight up talk to a cat but I think he's lonely/guarded against people enough that he'd try and befriend one.  Still trying to think of some kind of secret she could learn to make it weird.

LOL. We all know how Basil feels about needs his adopted mother. But seconding the fact that he also wants her to stay with them until she's on her feet. He'll even visit frequently, look at that. 

Pops has no real... feelings, either way. If she's good enough for Atticus, she's good enough for Poppy. Same with Anthony. Oli and Vince could give less of af and #YOLO CAL AND I KNOW WHERE ONE OF HER CHILDREN IS.

I'm not too helpful but I'm enjoying stalking Diana's plot line because its :chefs kiss:

I have a cousin - Anthea [Emrys's "sister" ] who is currently inactive and I'm in the process of pondering logistics of reactivating thanks to Kaytes Hecate plot.

And as Lynn says their mother died in 1880 under mysterious circumstances which caused both grief and anger because she was only in her forth year so that could be fun to play with- and possibly bring up some clearly supressed emotions on Anthea's part: aka she lost a family/auntlike entity (working off age gaps) mysteriously and then the following year her own mother also disappeared under mysterious circumstances. She may even be convinced that it was all connected and nobody looked into it thoroughly.

She will be quite disheartened to learn that it wasn't.

And in the land of coincidences - Diana's husbands' infidelity and her disappearance during her school years may have contributed to Anthea's decision to avoid men and marriage as a cautionary tale (also doesn't help she doesn't have much evidence in her life of a happy marriage).

So impact on Anthea about Diana's re-emergence: I suppose its up to you what exactly their relationship was like as Anthea would've been in her third-forth year at school. She doesn't particularly care what society or other people think so she's kinda like meh about the whole thing.

... my two other characters are minors and not particularly helpful? One of them is an animal obsessed 9 year old (Caroline Weasley) who would try and adopt a cat and keep it secret from everyone (She has tried to have a family of Puffskeins live under her bed) if you want to use that for the fate of one of the children? Greta is at Hogwarts and I'm pondering actually getting her a cat. Or something to look after.
