posting from clary because deactivated accounts can't post here - will switch out when Dimitri is reactivated. Wanted to post this beforehand so I can possibly get some threads planned so he can hit the ground running.

Dimitri was initially an UCHB gent who had a whole life full of potential ahead of him. He was turned into a vampire shortly after graduation, however, so his life was pretty much cut short as he was cast out of his family for being a vampire. He now resides in the vampire caverns and even years later really misses being wealthy. It is at least some consolation to him that he managed to eventually convince his brother to sneak out some of his beloved books to him. His cave in the vampire caverns is now 90% full of books.

He gets his blood supply from the Ministry and does his best not to feed or kill humans.

Former schoolmates: Dimitri was a bright and sociable Ravenclaw from 1872-1879. He was a prefect from 1877-1879. He was (and still is, I suppose) a scholar. He had some friends who were likely on the Quidditch teams that tried convincing him to play. They did not succeed.

Friends: He is generally friendly though tends to be a little more careful these days about who he befriends. Mainly for their safety then his own. He is still relatively young in terms of being a vampire but has a lot more control now than he did years ago. Would love if there was a couple of people who stayed his friends even after he was turned.

For plot device purposes, I am saying one said friend is UC and has snuck Dimitri an invite and possibly transport to this event. So any one who might fit that role and wants to claim it, just let me know.

Romance: Dimitri was in a long going, monogamous romance from 1883-1888 but that eventually came to an end. I am open to things happening here but he is unlikely to have had many flings, if any. He is too much of a romantic for that.

Since they both reside in the caverns Galina definitely knows and interacts with him. She'd love to talk books with him. I don't see her disliking him, but not sure how he'd feel toward her.

Ishmael, obviously... he thinks he's slightly suspect for going to the Ministry but would still begrudgingly lend a hand if Dimitri ever needed it.

Once again my Dempseys were in Ravenclaw at around about the same time (...Phyri is more interested in books and, as a weirdo, has no qualms about hanging out with vampires lol).

Jude was also in his schoolyear if he's interested in talking rights for non-humans.

Jay was in the year above but same house and also a scholarly type in his Hogwarts time, he is a night owl so could be a low-key friend for Dimitri in this day and age!

- Dimitri finds Ishmael suspect for the exact opposite so fair. But likewise, if Ishmael needed a hand for anything that doesn't involve murder. xD He is civil, at least!

Most of my ladies (why are HALF of my characters women aged 26-27??) were at school with him for 2-3 years.  None of them are solid connections but if you want Meri could have had a vision about him turning?  Open to whether or not she might have tried to warned him. Thistle was the only one in his house but her sense of self preservation would probably get in the way of any kind of friendship.

Jack is Jack as always.  He'd be be hella nervous around him but feel a responsibility to protect people from him but also be at least civil if not nice to him.

Alexander would think it was the coolest thing in the world to meet a vampire while out roaming hogsmead during his orphanage days.  Idk what this does for you now but he probably would have asked him questions about vampire life and the caverns and stuff once he got past the initial fear reaction.

Apart from my usual late twenties/early thirties cadre of men, who would have been at least passingly familiar with him (Oz, Ben, Morgan), I have Victor who was a dorm mate at Hogwarts! I bet they would have been friends, though Victor would have cut ties when he was turned. Not in a mean, "I'm better than you and can't be seen with you way" but in a sad "oh no you're dead and we can't hang out anymore " way. Would love an awkward friendship rekindling when Victor dies

Also potentially of interest: Juliana was the year below him in school, though I doubt they connected there (she was MC & was expelled shortly before OWL exams). Her feelings on vampires are complex but she works at the Ministry so they could probably have an interesting interaction or two.

Oh, yes, please to an awkward friendship rekindling. He has friendships that were secretly maintained and there could be a possibility that he probably thought Victor would do so with him too. Which would add to the awk. xD

Dimitri was an UCHB in school so probably wasn't likely actively befriending a Working Class woman but he would have been a friendly acquaintance! Maybe that could have or currently could deepen a bit into more of an actual friendship?
