His eyes wide, Handsome suddenly found the strength to hold up his wand and cast the appropriate spell.

After the boggart fled, Handsome stood awkwardly for a moment, trying to figure what was the appropriate explanation to give Miss Midford. He couldn't quite say "yeah, I've been snogging Miss Backus in the broom closets every afternoon for the entire year", but he couldn't allow her to come to her own conclusions!
