Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight
-Ed Sheeran
Three weeks. It had been three long weeks since Emmeline had seen Charlie and the worst part was she didn't know when she'd get to see him again. They'd talked plenty via owl but that was quite simply not the same. It was frustrating. And exhausting.

Her nights were filled with dreams of him. His touch, gentle and sweet. Teaching her things that she knew she shouldn't be wanting to be taught. Not yet, anyways. But she couldn't help it. And, more often than not, she awoke with her cheeks aflame with a blush and heated to her very core. And Sherry wasn't helping. That damnable girl had a way of saying things that only made Emmeline wonder that much more. Desire that much more. She was exhausted and frustrated.

Her day had gone as it often did but she'd at least had a piano lesson she could look forward to. A young girl was growing antsy without being able to do anything outside of the home so Emmeline had been contacted to restart piano lessons with her. It was a good distraction for both of them but then it was over. It felt as if the time had blown by much faster than normal and Emmeline had been loathe to leave the house in Bartonburg. She had to though, despite the young girl's protests for her to stay. With a smile and a promise to return the following week, she'd left to head back home even if she didn't want to.

It didn't take her long to get to the end of High Street to branch into Pennyworth. Distracted by her own thoughts, she didn't even hear the footsteps behind her.
