Despite her reservations about leaving people behind Belle was forced to admit that Mr Byrne had a point - they had to get away - and it wasn't as though Miss MacKay or Spryly had exactly welcomed their help although admittedly that was before the crocodile had taken a chunk out of the young woman. But they seemed to be doing more harm than good by just staying here...

"We can't just leave them behind," she said, knowing full well they were likely going to have to do exactly that. It turned her stomach to even think of doing so but Belle had rapidly come to the conclusion that she was desperately out of her league. In a hospital she could tend to them but with neither of them able to walk particularly well Belle didn't rate her chances of being able to get either of them to safety.
