Edric listened to her with a frown as he arranged the parchment, quill, and ink well on the desk. It was obvious that his job wouldn't be the only problem they had to contend with; her family would not likely be pleased with the revelation that he'd whisked their daughter away to the alter without their blessing.
(Merlin, hoped that their anger might be softened knowing the man their daughter had married, even if only on a superficial level—notable Ministry official, only son of a wealthy businessman, etc. etc.)
With a deep sigh, Edric resigned to his impulses and strode back towards the bed. He climbed atop the covers and plopped down next to Febby, tugging at the covers so he could press his cheek over her heart. "I think facing an angry Minister for Magic would be preferable to facing your parents right now," he grumbled. At least the Minister would likely have some sympathy—he (hopefully?) hadn't been affected by the letters.
