Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin

Flora sighed. "It looks so difficult—and not to mention uncomfortable," she agreed.

Merrwieather didn't seem to play quidditch, though given his history of sickness, that was probably for the best. The Longbottom family did have their fair share of involvement in the sport—Uncle Beckett sponsored the Wasps after playing professionally, and Aunt Marcie's husband had played as well.

#34
Acacia could agree with that. It was a relief that women were not expected to enjoy flying or quidditch. "At least it is only one year. Possibly in case there comes a time were one must fly to get somewhere." She said thoughtfully. That was the only reason she could think of for Hogwarts to make it mandatory on their first year.

"I would rather die than fly," she deadpanned, staring up at the older girl with blue eyes.

#36
Well, that was slightly overdramatic. "You may not always feel that way." She said, not knowing what else to say.

Flora scrunched her nose up in displeasure. "But aren't there other ways of travel? Apparition and the floo network seem so much quicker—and not to mention more convenient!—than carrying around a broom and taking the time to fly it somewhere!" Out of all the options for magical transportation, broomstick seemed the least efficient!

#38
Nodding her head, she did agree. "I've never taken a liking to flying. Apparition is actually much more dangerous than flying, from what I've heard. The floo network is not always accessible in every situation."

Flora eyed her expectantly. "...and a broomstick is?" she asked. Who in their right mind would carry a broom with them everywhere? It wasn't exactly an accessory that was very becoming of a young lady!

#40
Acacia thought this over. "True. But if one was in a certain situation to which this was their only option, it works I suppose."

#41
"If a situation was dire enough to require a broomstick, I'd likely fall right off it from the stress!" she giggled. "Perhaps we should speak with Headmaster Black about the fallacies in this logic!"

#42
This was something that actually sounded logical. "Perhaps. Though I would suggest finding more students who would support our cause."

Flora rolled her eyes. "It's highly unlikely they would," she pointed out with a shrug. She really didn't know, but she had a feeling Headmaster Black wasn't one who favored changing coveted Hogwarts traditions—including the class lineup. "I suppose the best we could do is ask for an opt-out."

#44
This girl would be a fantastic Ravenclaw indeed! Such skill in reasoning was very impressive for one so young. Her mind seemed to be working as though her ideas were paints that were to be placed on a canvas. "That is certainly a smart idea." She responded. True, Headmaster Black was quite a stubborn man. A petition couldn't lift the halfbreed ban, and that petition was to protect lives from being ruined.

"Even then," she continued, really paying little mind to the other girl's words as thoughts ran through her mind. "we might not even get that. I was always taught that sometimes the best you can do is bear suffering with your head held high. There's no need for dramatics—especially with adults."

#46
Surely the hat would see what Acacia saw. Now understanding exactly what was going on, she saw the girl go through scenario after scenario in her mind. Working out all of the obstacles and options. "That is very wise. Have you ever had any consideration into what house you'll be placed in?"

Flora paused as she opened her mouth to continue, thrown off by the sudden change of topic.

"Um - I'm not sure. My mother was a Slytherin and my father a Ravenclaw - I always assumed I'd end up in one of those," she explained with a light shrug. "I suppose Hufflepuff is an option—probably not Gryffindor, though. I'm not very brave, nor particularly inclined towards acts of heroism."

#48
Acacia thought over this reasoning. It was a fair one. Though Gryffindor didn't always mean having the bravery to run into a burning building or some other option. But still, this girl did not seem like a Gryffindor anyway. Each of the other three were fair options for what the girl might be. "I would say that you would be in Ravenclaw. Though that may be due to the fact that I am in Ravenclaw."
