Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ

Bloody hell, this was a nightmare. Making a reasonable suggestion and it turns into a debate! Well Nectar knew she wasn't going to stick around chatting away while they could be looking for answers. Some agreed that they split up, some did not. Wouldn't it be best if those that felt as if it was coming from one way should go that way, while the others went to wherever they thought the source was? It should make for less arguing, not more.

"Instead of arguing, I feel that we should split up so that we can cover more ground instead of wasting time on a useless debate. All in favor of investigating my idea, please follow me. The rest of you, go with Mr. Skeeter. Or go wherever else you feel might be a good lead. The decision is yours." She stated. With that, she went right back where they had come from, trying to figure out where would be a worse place, looking for clues. Even if she went at it alone, at least she was doing something.

Anne struggled to make a decision. On one hand, most people seemed intrigued by what was causing the boils, and so did she, but she also wanted to get as far away from there as possible. "Maybe it's bad luck to follow the boils." she said apprehensively, rocking from one foot to the other, "I mean, I would like to know what is causing them, but still. We don't seem to have any permanent cure." she itched, standing unsure.

Miss MacFusty drops to the ground, covered completely in boils - she will have to be picked up by the infirmary. If the group does not decide what to do - or, at least, make moves - they will certainly be joining her!

Panic began to set in for Alfie the moment Tilda hit the ground; oh Merlin he hated the idea of leaving her behind but with Skeeter going one way, Miss Shinnick the other, and the rest still hovering it was time for a decision. And unfortunately he might have to be the person to make it. It would be fine, he told himself forcibly, just like Quidditch - divide and conquer.

"I'll go with Miss Shinnick," he declared, reaching to ease Tilda's pack off her shoulders and, after emptying it onto the ground, gently settling it under her head. He took up the first aid kit and hoped she would not mind him borrowing one of her knives too, although he had no idea what he would do with it. "Good luck, best get after him. I'm sure we'll see each other again."

Assuming the boils weren't deadlier than they first appeared of course. He ignored the thought and jogged after the deb and into the unknown beyond the outskirts.

The healer fell unconscious boils covering her. That really wasn’t a good thing. But it seemed to make the gentleman decide on a course of action. “We should meet back here in two hours.” Asha told the man as he stated he’d go with the determined young lady. Better to have a plan to meet than let the two of them fall unconscious in a fog where none of them would no. At least if they didn’t come back they’d know to look for them.

As the two of them walked away Asha looked at the rest of them. If no one else was going to make a decision…. “We should look to see if there is something that is cancelling the boils. Let’s keep going this way until it’s no longer itchy.” He suggested and started that way before anyone could start to argue again. They had a job to do and Asha needed money for his camera, so the job they would do - boils or no.

Well, this situation was not getting any better. "We'll send someone from the Infirmary," Tybalt called after Clearwater as he took it upon himself to follow the young lady back into the thick of the boils.

At least he was a mediwizard?

Meanwhile, the rest of them had so far proven pretty close to useless, but Tyb broke into a brisk walk to keep up with those who were heading towards the rest of the town. Hopefully they would not lose any more of them in Dovecote, because if they did, well... it wouldn't feel like a very successful adventure, for starters. But perhaps Bilton was right, and they'd discover something this way! Best to stay optimistic, Tyb supposed.

On their way to find the itchiest spot, Mr. Clearwater and Miss Shinnick will drop to the ground, covered in boils and unconscious. They will have to be picked up by the infirmary and will likely arrive there in the early morning hours of July 4th.

As the four travelers from Group D leave the Dovecote District, they'll find their boils fading. Except for a pattern on every one of their arms.

In boils, on the forearms of every group member, are the words:
SALEM SQUARE.

Thank Merlin the boils were finally subsiding! He'd rolled up his sleeves back when he'd been itching like the devil, so eventually he began tugging at fabric around his elbows to unroll them again, only he glanced down and -

WHAT? "Um," Tybalt said, stopping short as they walked, arms held out in front of him like they were something foreign. If he'd been able to drag his stare away from the message, he'd have looked around at the remaining group, wide-eyed, but... "I think the boils are trying to tell us something." Trying, mm. It was... not especially subtle.

Relief from the itching found them as they wandered further away. Asha couldn't pretend he wasn't thrilled with that. But it was the quidditch player's arms that surprised him. The exclamation from the man dragging his attention to the exposed forearms and boil written words. "I suppose that means we should head to the Square?"

The fog, or the exertion, or the boils are causing Mr. Skeeter's prosthetic some difficulty. It pops out of its socket, and he will have to be picked up by the infirmary. Perhaps shocked by the event, or perhaps just due to the stress and oddness of the day, Miss Devon faints.

And then there were two.

Will Kirke and Bilton head to the Square?

One by one it seemed the group fell to the ground. Asha was willing to put money on that being a sign. "I'm going to take that as a sign to get out of here." Asha said with a nod to the others, adding, "The square seems as good a place as any. At the very least we can get the ministry and healers in to help these blokes" He started into the fog toward the Square

Tybalt scarcely had time to answer before the boils caused more problems for the group, and suddenly it was down to him and Bilton. "The square it is," Tyb agreed, glancing over at the others they were leaving behind with a bit of a wince. There weren't enough of them left to drag them all along with him - without magic, to boot - so sending the infirmary to them looked like their only option.

Tybalt kept a brisk pace, any trepidation about heading to where the boils wanted them to go cancelled out by the relief to be getting as far away as possible. "You know, I am feeling quite lucky 'round about now," he quipped, still hoping rather fervently that Witch Weekly somehow, magically, knew what they were talking about for once.

When they arrive, Salem Square is foggy and silent, the buildings long-closed. Except the casino. While it's supposed to be shut down after a kitchen fire, instead the pair will find themselves looking at a brightly-lit building. The doors are wide open.

*Bee and I will have just arrived in CAN at this time so stay tuned

Luck was not a word Asha typically thought of when it came to himself, but he supposed this time it might be on his side. “After that,” His a jerk of his thumb back where they had come from, “I’m inclined to agree with you.

When they reached the Square it was foggy, light glared at them and as they approached Asha thought it was safe to assume this was the casino. “I thought the casino closed?” If only he had his camera, this would be a great story to be featured in the Prophet, might even have turned his luck around. But alas, he had no camera… which really was what had started all this after all.

Tybalt nodded dubiously towards Bilton and his question - but apparently not. He'd never thought a brightly lit building could be so eerie, but there they were.

Tyb drew his bat at last. It hadn't helped any with the boils, but now - well. They didn't know what they were going to find, but if it was something or someone corporeal behind all this, at least he'd be ready to smash it to smithereens. "Guess there's nothing for it?" He said. What had Elsie said in that letter of hers? Please be careful... Well, probably lucky that Elsie wasn't here to see this, then, Tybalt considered, as he marched straight in through the open doorway.

#48
"Guess not." Asha agreed, fishing in his pack for his pocket knife. Couldn't hurt, could it? Then he followed the man into the building to find out just what this was all about. Surely the answer would be here.
