terrible murder in whitechapel
are vampire attacks on the rise?
In the early hours of Tuesday 3rd April a most terrible incident occurred in London’s Whitechapel, a dreary, desolate place where such deaths usually pass without notice however this one stands out due to it's brutality and the suggestion, unknown to the muggles but no doubt running rampant through the Ministry of Magic, that an unknown vampire was the perpetrator. For what other creature would deliberately injure an unarmed woman in such a manner?
Emma Smith, an unfortunate of the East End, was last seen by a friend at just past midnight with an unidentified, dark-cloaked man and was not seen again until hours later when her face and neck were bloodied and she had suffered other grievous injuries so terrible we cannot even print them for fear of offending the sensibilities of our readers. Smith survived for several hours and was taken to a muggle hospital where, no doubt in the midst of much confusion, their healers were unable to save her life.
Today an inquest was held, a verdict of murder reached quickly and it was opined by the coroner to be "impossible to imagine a more brutal and dastardly assault". We at the Daily Prophet only fear that it may not be the last of it's kind if the Ministry is as negligent with vampires as they have been proven to be with werewolves.
