June 16, 1888 - High Street

It was quite a fun time to play in the fog. Running around was enjoyable when it was hard for her twin to catch her in their game of tag. Though it was hard to see around in the fog, that didn't mean that fun couldn't be had. Why would Claire let the fog keep her from enjoying her last summer before Hogwarts? She was actually going to go to Hogwarts! Granted, as long as the fog didn't keep the place from shutting down.

Having lost track of Cele after a while, she stopped to take a breath, wondering if she would get caught at all by her twin. Looking around High Street with curiosity, she tried to see if she could make out anyone around her by at least their silhouette. Getting up, she spotted one person walking close by. Perhaps it was her chaperone, come to tell her that it was time to go back home. Though that would be a sad bit of news.

Going over, she smiled when she recognized the nice lady that had helped her find her and Cele's bunny. "Hello!" She said joyfully. Having not seen her since... oh, was it April? Or March? Either way, it was so long ago. At least, in the eyes of the young eleven year old.

Emmeline had offered to take some of her mother's work to a client and found herself idly wandered along High Street as a result. She knew were to go, that was easy enough, but the fog was an awful hindrance. People were still determined to go about their day to day but it made it hard when one couldn't really see much around them. Luckily, she'd made it to the door easily enough but had decided to take her time getting back home. There was little for her to do there, after all, as she'd already read through who knew how many of her schoolbooks.

She'd been a bit lost in her thoughts, thinking over the recent events of her life, so she hadn't even noticed the little girl that had approached her until she had said hello. She looked down to the familiar face with a smile, "Well hello there! How is your bunny?"

Though the fog was certainly fun to play in with the mystery and trying to play hide and seek, along with other games, it was starting to get boring. Mama and papa were both starting to be hesitant in letting Claire and Cele go outside at all. And to be honest, Claire did miss the sun. Playing in the sun, actually see the flowers that she was running around in at times, watching the lake in the park. She couldn't help but miss that.

Claire did wonder if her twin would catch up to her so that she could meet this nice lady as well. After all, it would possibly not have been possible for Claire to get their bunny without this nice lady's help. "My bunny is good. Cele and I take good care of our bunny, and it likes carrots a lot. How are you?" She stated with glee.

Emmeline couldn't help but to smile at the sweet innocence of the girl. She was a vibrant little girl as well with her big smiles and zeal for life. It was nice to see and she sincerely hoped that she stayed that way. That the ways of the world around them didn't jade her overtime. Unfortunately, that wasn't likely but she hoped that the little girl would keep that love of life for as long as she could.

"That is great to hear. Did you give it a name?" she asked with that smile still in place, "And I'm well. Just..trying to stay busy." It wasn't a full lie. She was better than she'd been at the beginning of the month but it was certainly a day to day waiting game.

In all honesty, Claire truly wished to leave Hogsmeade on another adventure with Cele! Exploring the world was her purpose, in her mind. Finding new places and things, meeting many new people. It filled her with excitement. Getting to do so would bring her great joy. Part of her wondered, however, how much her twin shared such ideals. Will they still be partners in adventure when they're older? Cele did tend to be shy, would she even want to be adventurous if Claire didn't encourage her to do so?

Nodding quickly, she was quite happy to talk about her new friend to her other new friend. "We named it Cotton!" She said happily. Tilting her head, Claire tried to guess what the nice lady meant by 'keeping busy'. "Doing what?" She asked curiously after having not been able to figure it out.

Emmeline shrugged slightly at the girl's question. "Not much," she answered honestly, "Simply running errands for my mother." It wasn't, honestly, quite enough to keep her mind busy though. There was so much that had happened in such quick succession starting at the beginning of the month that she was really quite confused by it all. She really just hoped the fog would go away and that she could go back to school. At least there she knew what was happening and could get back into a true routine.

Nodding slightly, she didn't think that this sounded like much fun. Oh, and she wanted the kind lady to have fun! After thinking for a moment, her eyes lit up as she had an idea. "Would you like to play tag with Cele and I? Or we can find Cele and go look at the shops together? Would your mama mind if you spent time with us?" She asked quickly, excited and hopeful. Spending time with friends could be very fun, and help make the fog covered summer go by until the Bénet twin's first year of Hogwarts arrived.

Emmeline continued to smile at the little girl. "I think my mother would be fine with me taking a little time for myself," she said easily enough, "But I'm not sure tag in the fog is all the wise. Perhaps I'll help you to find your sister and then we can decide from there." It was the reasonable idea, after all and she was ever the reasonable young woman. Well.. Most of the time. As long as alcohol wasn't a factor.

No tag? Oh, but the fog made it so much more interesting. It was like tag and hide-and-go-seek were mixed together. But the lady would certainly have more fun options. "OK." She said simply before gazing into the fog. Which way did Cele go? "Cele!" She called out. Looking back at the lady, she shrugged slightly. Thinking for a moment, she tilted her head. "I'm not sure where she went. But she looks just like me." She commented. A fact that seemed quite helpful.

Emmeline grinned down at the little girl as she called out for her sister. When she looked back up to Emmeline and added the fact of her sister looking just like her, she couldn't help the slight surprise on her features. They must have been twins then. "Does she? Are you two twins then?" she asked, intrigued by that idea for whatever reason.

Tilting her head, she had a hard time imagining what else being identical could be the result of. Magic? A duplication spell? Did that work on humans? "Yes, she's my twin." She said, though slightly lost in thought at the concept of there being other reasons for looking exactly like someone.

Emmeline nodded, a bit surprised it seemed at the realization. She hadn't realized before that the little girl was a twin. But then again, why would she have. She'd only ever seen the girl by herself. "Well then, let's look for her," she said with a smile and offered her hand so that they could go in search of the girl's twin together.

Emmeline happily took the girls hand as the two went on their way to search for the other little girl, calling out as she went. Hopefully they could find he easily enough and see to it that they got safely home.
