Magical Creatures Exclusive
new dawn at the Ministry
With the werewolves seemingly at bay for the moment we at the Daily Prophet took a moment to sit down with the new Head of Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Mrs Morwenna Skeeter. Unlike her predecessor Mrs Skeeter has been a fixture of the department for nearly forty years so one hopes she has a stronger sense of what needs to be done to guide this spiralling department back into the well-oiled machine it once was.
Congratulations on the promotion Mrs Skeeter, I doubt I’m alone in saying it has been a long time coming.
I wouldn’t want to put words into other’s mouths, but thank you.
Are there changes pending in the department?
A few, and I believe all of them are utterly necessary to see this department rise to its full potential. The newly appointed Head of Beings has been working diligently in the division for many years so, like me, he has the experience needed to be effective. Which isn’t to say I have anything against ambitious youngsters of course!
Like Mr Podmore?
And Miss Goyle. Both excellent in their own unique way.
Mr Podmore oversees your old Division. How do you think he is faring after the spate of werewolf attacks last year?
I have full confidence that Mr Podmore is working as hard as he can to make the wizarding world a safer place. The attacks last year were unprecedented in number and, whilst we have our suspicions, we are yet to satisfactorily ascertain a reason for the increase and devastating consequences. One only hopes that anybody afflicted by this terrible ailment is taking precautions come the full moon and nobody ends up suffering the same blow as our former Minister.
Speaking of which, how are you finding Mr Ross as a leader?
He has my full support. If women were allowed the vote I can assure you that mine would have been firmly with Mr Ross.
So you support the push for women’s votes?
Clearly. In my opinion it would be churlish not to at this point.
Time will tell whether this department can be brought back into order but it's clear that Mrs Skeeter is a woman with exactly the mettle to do just that.
