Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
More than a week had passed since her little incident with Mr. Blackwall and Mr. Urquart, and Holly was finally recovering from her anger management issues, but she was still a wee bit susceptible to snapping at anyone who went out of their way to be annoying. Camille didn't count as one of those people, but she was her sister, which meant Holly was especially susceptible to lashing out on her without fear of lost points. They were siblings, and siblings fought, duh.
She was leaving the castle to journey towards the quidditch pitches (she'd agreed to meet one of the older students for tutoring in the stands) when she caught sight of Camille — dirty robes and all!
"Camille!" she gasped, quickly making her way towards her sibling. "You're all covered in dirt. What would Papa say?" she scolded, though her tone was less venomous than it could have been.
Camille had been having some innocent fun, messing with some friends she had made in her Gryffindor class. It wasn't that bad of a house to be in, a lot of the other students were interesting. That certainly helped during the boring hours of studying. But there was no time for that now. What had once been a simple game of tag, turned into an actual mud fight.
The clothes had not been that much of a bother to her, but some had gotten in her hair. At that point, she had decided to leave the game to clean up. Hopefully before it started to dry up or get on her face. She had not once thought that she would run into her older sister.
Miss Scrimgeour didn't honestly care about her sister's anger..., well... not that often. This was one time were she wasn't very fazed with Holly's tone. "He would simply sigh and pat my head. While avoiding the mud in my hair." She stated, though the last sentence was more of an after thought.
Camille had a point, but it wasn't the one she was trying to make.
"Never mind that," she interrupted with a dismissive wave of her hand. "If any of the professors see you, you'll be in remedial etiquette classes for weeks. You're so - oh my!" she gasped before reaching over and moving a strand of her sister's dark hair. "Camille, you have worms in your hair. Actual worms."
Of course Camille knew that Holly could see her reasoning. Holly was a smart girl... though Camille would never admit it.
A wave of a hand. Just like magic, Holly once more had the say of things. Rolling her eyes, Camille listened less and less as her sister spoke. That is, until her sister had practically shrieked. Focusing on Holly and her words once more, her eyes widened. "Really? Ew!" She cried out, grabbing the strands of hair that she knew had been hit, and shaking it.
Eyes widened as her sister massacred her own hairdo, Holly reached out and attempted to grab her arms.
"No, Camille, let me do it!" she insisted, attempting to grab her wand while also wrestling with her thrashing sister. Sadly, Holly's own wand tumbled to the ground, and, between the girl's tousling, found itself in two pieces at their feet. Horrified, Holly shoved her sister to the ground and reached for her wand. "Camille, you wench, look what you did! My wand! I-It's broken." she cried, beginning to feel her chest muscles tighten.
Oh no, she didn't really want her sister grabbing her! She was already terribly panicked.
"Hush, Holly! I'm working on it!" She insisted bluntly. Of course she didn't want to listen, she was much to worried about having worms, as well as whatever else there might be, in her hair. She had heard from some older students that lice had broken out at the end of last year, and she didn't want to risk it.
Shrieking as she hit the ground, she huffed angrily. "It's not my fault! You are the one who grabbed me!" She countered sharply. Getting up, she backed away from her sister.
Holly wasn't even listening anymore. She now had tears streaming down her face as she looked at her broken wand, which had become her best friend since starting Hogwarts. How would she do her studies? Would she be forced to go the rest of the year without a wand? She couldn't live like this! She was ruined!
As she continued to blubber, Holly was suddenly faced with more anger, and she tried to move towards Camille to hit her... but unfortunately never made it. With clouded, teary eyes and an off sense of balance, Holly herself tumbled to the ground and landed in the dirt. Now she was just as dirty as her sister!
"I'm telling Papa what you've done," she whimpered lamely, pushing herself onto her knees.
Just great, her sister was dreadful when she was like this. Emilia was so much better at talking Holly down. She looked so upset. Camille couldn't handle Holly being upset. No, she wanted to leave, and leave now.
That anger... that was then anger that made Camille uneasy. This anger was much less controlled, much more chaotic. Now she really needed to go. For her own safety. Backing up even more as her sister started to head towards, she watched as the Slytherin tumbled and fell.
"Papa won't care, when does he ever care about any of this?" She responded. It seemed to be true, especially after that little troll of a half-brother was born. She really wanted to leave now.
Ugh, Camille was being so not helpful. She just needed to get her wand fixed, and even though she knew that was impossible, it was all she could focus on at the moment!
"Just - Just go Camille! We're done here!" she sobbed, no longer interested in what her sister had to say.
