Emmeline's face remained pink but it was no longer of blush but of anger. "What in the hell is that supposed to mean?" she spit out, glaring at him with a ferocity that was rarely seen from her. He'd clearly managed to strike a chord in her and she had gone from annoyed to livid. She stopped in her walking, patrol all but forgotten in that moment, as her arms crossed of her chest as she glared him down.

Now that had gotten under her skin more than the rest put together: she was really riled now. Oh, I think you know, Kristoffer would have said in answer, because she'd not have been so angry already if she didn't know where he was coming from, if she didn't know precisely what 'a girl like her' was. She probably had a chip on her shoulder about it.

"Mm, nothing," Kristoffer hummed instead, deciding it would be more irritating to her not to give her the satisfaction of a detailed reply, and let her stew in her own self-respect issues alone.

Also, he had no intention of getting hexed on patrol. Better to be patient, and wait until next time they were paired to start needling her again. "Come on now, Miss Wh- Woodcroft," he added carelessly, "do keep up. We have patrolling to do."

Emmeline didn't budge, not at first. She was still glaring at him, clearly unamused by the turn of their conversation and the way he didn't seem at all interested in explaining himself further. He was the worst sort of boy she'd ever known. How anyone could like him by any means, she didn't know. And clearly, he only got to the positions he had thanks to his name and status. It was disgusting, really.

"If you mean to say my type is one that can see beyond status and a name and see what a person is truly like," she started to say as she started to walk again, "Then yes, I'm think kind of a girl. A girl unphased by your disgusting arrogance and only your name to pave your way for you." She was nearly growling as she said it all, clearly angered beyond measure at the point but now back to the task at hand of patrolling. She just hoped the time would pass faster so that she could be away from him. Thank Merlin he wasn't a Gryffindor.

Saying nothing worked a dream, and so Kris continued that tactic even while she belittled his name and his disgusting arrogance. He hoped she wasn't trying to offend him. Everyone was jealous of the Lestrange name, this was nothing new. And clearly she was much more fazed than she pretended: it was almost funny, wasn't it?

He could hardly give her the satisfaction of stooping to her level now never mind that his manners had been in the gutter the entire time. "While I'm flattered that you have such passionate feelings about me," Kristoffer returned finally, equally as unfazed by her insults as she supposedly was by him, "you're a prefect, Miss Woodcroft, and you mustn't make a scene." At least not here, not tonight, not now that she was more outraged than flustered. Outrage was a response he could prod out of anyone - accordingly, he was rather bored of her now.

Emmeline opened her mouth to speak, to spew more anger and venom at him, but quickly clamped her lips shut as he mentioned not making a scene. He was the worst sort of bastard, really. She didn't think that it would be possible to despise someone in such a way but apparently he'd brought it out of her.

With one last seething glare, she shook her head and began walking once more to finish their patrol. It would be over soon, thank Merlin, and she was determined to do so in silence.
