Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
The NEWT students were an even split between Slytherin and Ravenclaw which, in Connie's estimation, promised a highly accomplished competition to come. Certainly she was slightly more hopeful that with these students she wouldn't be obliged to jump out of the way to avoid getting a faceful of potion!
"All the ingredients you will need are in front of you, along with some you may not. We would like you to make a hiccupping solution first. You may begin."
You have 72 hours to post your character completing their potion. First to post gets a +1 to their score!
Competition was something that Sweetie was fairly comfortable with. While she might be bold as a Gryffindor, she did have the determination and cunning of a Slytherin. As she listened, she glanced briefly at each of the other students. The only one who she recognized fairly quickly was Mr. Bones. Which likely meant the other two young men were of other houses.
It felt strange to be the only female student there. Not too important, but strange nonetheless. Being permitted to begin, Sweetie set to work on her potion. Much of her focus was on the preparation and time it took. Moving the ingredients she knew that she didn’t need away from the ingredients she was sure she did, it helped for her to concentrate more on the preparation. When she was confident of her potion, she stepped back and raised her hand to show that she was finished.

Patiently and methodically, Benjamin Turner worked his way through his hiccoughing solution. Though potions ranked as highly as chess and history on the list of Things Ben Was Good At, he knew that to rush was to lead to mistakes.
Miss Whitledge’s quick finish, though, did light something of a fire under him, and so when the Ravenclaw raised his hand to signal completion, he was not quite satisfied he had done his best work.
As was his usual method, Ignatius worked methodically, each measurement precise and each instruction precise. It was no surprise that he was not one of the first to finish though he was not last, at least. Raising his hand to signal his completion of the potion, he waited for the judging to begin.
A hiccuping solution. Eldin had never been stellar at Potions, but neither had he terribly sucked. It was a lie to say he didn’t feel little nervous; if there was any talent to be sure of—at least in overall academic prowess—it was the Head Boy.
He crated his potion with care, only stepping back when he was confident of his creation.
It was a close-run thing in the end but Miss Whitledge's potion would only dull hiccups and Mr Quirrell's seemed to do nothing more than freshen one's breath.
"Mr Turner and Mr Bones will proceed," perhaps there was hope for Slytherin house after all? "Please concoct an antidote for a love potion."
An antidote for a love potion seemed suiting when one considered the recent pink letter scandal. Eldin took to brewing his antidote as soon as Miss Sykes gave the go-ahead, keeping one eye out to monitor the progress of Mr. Turner. Once he was complete, he stood back and anxiously waited for a winner to be announced.

To craft a proper love potion antidote was not a simple task—unfortunate, given how useful the concoction was. As such, Ben took his time, meticulously measuring out ingredients and ensuring the directions were finished just so. The result took longer than Bones' efforts, but the Ravenclaw felt tentatively confident as he raised his hand to signal completion.
Connie smiled at both boys indulgently as she tested their potions. They were both good, excellent even and had she been desperately in love with somebody as a result of an ill-timed potion she was sure she would be cured by either effort, but one was ever so slightly better done.
