IC Ravenclaw Quidditch Tryouts '88
#1
Saturday, September 8th, 1888, afternoon  — Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch
Rupert was pleased but not that surprised when he was appointed Quidditch Captain. It was only natural that the position go to him, after all. He was determined to win the Quidditch Cup this year. Not only would it be immensely satisfying to end his school career with a win but it would mean that he beat Lestrange. What was friendship without some slightly unhealthy competition? Boring, that was what.

"Good afternoon, everyone. This year we are looking to fill just two spots. A chaser and a keeper spot," Rupert informed the group that had come to try out. He was glad that most of his team consisted of experienced players that had hopefully learned from previous mistakes.

"Potential chasers will have to complete an obstacle course in which they will have to keep their hold on a quaffle. There are a few 'surprises' and distractions that you will encounter within as well. Your task is complete once you have managed to get your quaffle into one of the goal posts at the end of the course." That way he could judge both their flying and scoring ability.

"Potential Keepers, it will be your task to try and keep those quaffles out of the goals. If you are trying out for both positions, simply do one task and then switch off to do the other." Once he was sure that everyone was on the same page, he signaled for them all to begin. "You may begin!"
Please post once for each position you are trying out for. Make sure you have filled in the requisite form and have received a “like” from Kayte before posting! The deadline for all posts is 6pm EST on September 9th.

By posting in this thread, you agree to have your character present and whole regardless of what happens between the date of posting and the IC date listed.

Ever since Thomas had been convinced to join club Quidditch the year before, he had rather quickly fallen in love with the sport. He most definitely didn't think it would amount to anything in adulthood, but it was an interesting hobby, none-the-less. It also made him well-rounded, and it provided a physical outlet for his frustrations.

He stood by, quietly and seriously listening to Rupert's instructions of what to expect during the try-outs. He took mental notes and then readied himself to first try out for Keeper. It was a position he was more familiar with since he typically played it in Club Quidditch. (That and beater, but there weren't any beater positions open.) He was also suited up in more protective equipment already.

When they were told to begin, Thomas climbed onto his broom and headed over to the goals. He did fairly well for himself and zigzagged about, blocking the Quaffle from flying through any of the hoops. The boy used every part of his body to kick, punch, and even headbutt the ball away from being scored. His moves were calculated, and only a few shots made it through during his time. He had one close call with a Bludger that sent him on a very large loop around the goals, but he didn't lose his balance or fall off.

With a lopsided smile, Thomas returned to the ground after his trial was over. He didn't think he had done too poorly, but he had already started to pick apart his own performance. The fourth year didn't have too much time to dwell on it, for he soon had to ready himself to try out for chaser.

When it came time for Chaser tryouts, he took the time to study the obstacle course before he made his attempt. He held tight to the ball and zig zagged about. Some of the surprises made him nearly lose it, but he seemed to manage for the most part.

When he made his goal, completing the course, he touched back down.
