Introducing: Polly

@[Polly Thomas]
11, LCMB, scullery maid
  • Sweet, hardworking, kind, timid
  • Irish, orphan, newly discovered she’s a witch
  • Needs: friends, foes. and everything else.

Polly is an incoming first year at Hogwarts, who is still new to all things magical. She’s grown up in an Irish orphanage, and has some trauma from that. A sweet, soft spoken young girl, Polly is open for anything. I would love for her to have a gaggle of chums either before she starts Hogwarts or shortly after. She’s too young for romance—and likely won’t be interested once she is old enough—but harmless puppy love crushes might be fun.

She’s very gullible, naive and trusting, so has the potential to be taken advantage of if someone’s so inclined. She’s a prime target for bullies, unfortunately, and could definitely have some antagonistic relationships too.

Basically, I’m open for all sorts of plots, happy, sad, dark or fluffy. All are wanted!

Like I said in Discord, I have Millie Potts, who will be a 5th Year Ravenclaw during Polly's first year. She'd gladly take a new girl under her wing, especially if Polly winds up in Ravenclaw. I think she would see herself a bit in Polly, she's also very reserved, a bit dreamy and thoughtful, definitely more reticent than most. She might take Polly on an adventure or encourage her to take one. At the very least, offer some book suggestions, Millie is an avid reader.

I have a feeling that Charley Goode would have a lot of fun with Polly. Particularly given this part:
Quote:She’s very gullible, naive and trusting, so has the potential to be taken advantage of if someone’s so inclined. She’s a prime target for bullies, unfortunately, and could definitely have some antagonistic relationships too.
Charley is an urchin in Hogsmeade who attended just a year of Hogwarts, she might venture over to Irvingly as well from time to time. She's fond of gullible, naive and trusting young people who she could put up to a task or just let them bask in her glory (she's bound to get some coming her way one of these days). Charley tends to be more antagonistic with girls, though there's always room in her heart to form a soft spot and wind up helping or mentoring one. Particularly someone as hard-working (for less pay than she deserves!) as Polly.

If you need someone to help break Polly out of her shell, or drive her deeper inside, Charley's your man. Gal. Urchin. Whatever. She's good for antics, antagonism, and general street fun as well.

Polly seems very sweet Smile

Margaret Wallace will be reluctantly joining Hogwarts in September, she is shy, has very poor feelings of self worth and is scared of magic.

Her "job" is delivering produce like honey, milk and vegetables so it is quite possible that her and polly would have already run into each other "professionally". So they might have a preexisting friendship before starting school.

My other Hogwarts students are Benedict Hunter and Violetta DeCroix don't really run in her circles but are still there as options for threading at school. Ben is president of the book club, so if polly learns to read they might come across each other.

I think I'm mostly just useful when she heads to school. Jameson Potter and Regina Pendergast (apping next month) will be my first years, and I'll have older students in Hufflepuff and Gryffindor once she gets there!

In the meantime, my best bet is probably Blythe Fairchild, who lives in Irvingly and regularly attends church services there! She would be happy (or at least feel morally obligated) to talk to Polly about the Church of Magical Jesus (see the "other" panel in her app!) if she knew Polly had magic Smile

Hiii! I have a few folks for Polly, mostly in the future I’d imagine. Basil here is the Ravenclaw HoH and Transfiguration professor at Hogwarts. He’s always seemed to take special interest in the first years, and has on occasion been sent to clean up muggleborn messes incoming and explaining to them about who/what they are— so potential things there. Smile

I also have Callum Finnigan who is (oh GOSH) already going to be a third year! He’s new money Irish though, and very protective so I could definitely see them getting along quite well! Happy to find something for them to thread about before school if you’re interested! Her family could have worked for his in the past or something, or a friend of his? Anywho, very open! Welcome to Charming!

Hiii BlueMarie! I sent you a PM earlier, but also I have a couple options for you, I think...

Chastity Bentley is my Irvingly resident. I feel like she feels for muggleborn kids because she had a rough time of it and she can relate.

I also have James Callum who is currently a first year, and also probably the most social of my student characters because he will happily chat with anyone who will give him the time of day. XD

Honestly, they all sound delightful. Charley especially sounds like a fantastic time, though I think Polly might be a little cowed at first, lol. She’s pretty shy. She might open up around someone more outgoing, though. Millie sounds like a sweetheart and I’m excited to see where they end up, too.

Margaret and Polly definitely have potential as friends and I love the idea of them knowing each other professionally lol before going to school. I think Polly would be good of a family face.

LOL please send Blythe to talk about this church with Polly! She could use some positive perspectives on magic LOL.

Yessss Basil sounds great, and I lob the idea of Polly/her fam working for Callum. Yay for fellow Irish connections.

Both sound delightful! Polly enjoys chatty people as she doesn’t have to say much then loool.

I mentioned them in my last PM, but to keep all of your networking all in one place;

I have Sydney Podmore who is currently my only Irvingly resident, but he owns the zoo and is pretty easygoing! He has a capybara named Hazel that follows him around so he's easy to spot.

I will have an incoming first year (not apped yet, Ramona Pendergast) and a second year Hufflepuff Ella Grimm soon! Ella's younger sister Vivian (not played yet) will be a first year too. Once we get to school I also have Mason Skeeter who is the herbology professor and Hufflepuff HoH.

With the Flower Show on May 4th, realistically most of my bunch can be in Irvingly on that day as well!

I don't have any child characters but Ben Crouch here will be her flying instructor once she gets to school!

The only other person I have who sometimes interacts with kids is J. Alfred Darrow who teaches sailing lessons at a beach resort but that's probably quite a stretch for a poor orphan with no magical connections yet, haha. Maybe when she's older.

Halllooo I have:

Hestia who is mainly in London now, but used to be in Hogsmeade as the barkeep at Hogsmeade. She might be scary at first, but she has a bunch of kids in the neighborhood who she's looked out for in the past, and also given free meals. If Polly showed up at one point when she was younger, Hestia would have been nice and offered her a hot meal if she needed it.

Avery Davenport is a creature healer who doesn't live in Irvingly but has a few clients there with pets! Avery also has a younger daughter Marigold who sometimes she brings with her to appointments! Marigold is not played but I usually add in little things in Avery's posts about Marigold, so I could see Marigold wandering off during on of the appointments and maybe meeting Polly? She's extremely kind and also loves animals. Has a baby lamb named Raindrop that she will wax on and on about.

Louisa Clearwater used to live in Irvingly as a governess to Evander Darrow's ward, Charity Lloyd!

I can offer Meserimus Valenduris - he will be coming to discuss her mugglebornness! So happy to have a thread where he breaks the news.

I have Christabel Daphnel - who is a member of the anglo-Irish ascendancy, they wouldn't have crossed paths, but Christabel is the sort to hire Irish staff for her Hogsmeade home if she needs somewhere to work.

When she gets to Hogwarts she should meet Yuri Podsnapper -he was an orphan, who was turned into a statue for a number of years, but he has a thing for waifs and strays.

Maddie here sells pets for Hogwarts!

Welcome! I'll have a first year I'll be creating a bit later into the summer, but I'll definitely hit you up when I have them drafted up.

As for what I currently have:

Toby Seacoal is a drama queen in the form of a WC boy from Hogsmeade whose family sells potions. I totally would have a blast threading them over the summer.

I also have Katherine Arundell "Kitty" who is an incoming third year. She's muggleborn so I'm limited to interactions with her at school.

Also, I do have Grace Riley' who's brother is an incoming firstie this year. She lives in Irvingly and I'm happy to revive her if you're interested in a thread with her.

Additionally, I have Caroline Darrow and Percival Adlard who are adults living in Irvingly. In fact, if you need an employer for her either of them would happily hire her.

My best bet probably works best when she's at Hogwarts — but could be rude over the summer too. Sirius Black doesn't have a ton of interest in bullying much younger children, but also has no interest in talking to them as he thinks he's too cool, so he could be a mild antagonist!
