Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

Against the Odds
~In Overview

Against the Odds is a prize that often creeps up in various on-board competitions and giveaways. Most broadly, it allows the possessor to give their character something they would not, typically speaking, have access to—but what, exactly, does that mean? Below is a guide to help you decide just want to make of this surprisingly useful prize. Each AtO allows you to choose one of the following, and they can be redeemed at any time. If you have something else in mind, please approach a member of the admin team!

~Development Rewards

Below are rewards that may be redeemed only to impact the life of an existing character.

Animagus Jr.: Provided the character has been working on it for at least a year, your sixth- or seventh-year student may become an animagus!

Double-Up: Your seer or metamorphmagus character may also become an animagus.

Oh Captain My Captain: Youth be damned! Your fourth-year student may, provided there are appropriate vacancies, serve as house quidditch captain or club president.

A Convenient Inheritance: This unexpected (but convenient) boon gives your characters the financial means to move up one Hogsmeade neighbourhood (or its equivalent). This would see a character from the Slums move into Pennyworth, from Pennyworth to Bartonburg South, from Bartonburg South to Bartonburg North, and from Bartonburg North to Wellingtonshire. Please note that where a class jump occurs, a rep fall follows (and it's up to your character to stay there!)

Good Guy Gus; Good Girl Gertie: Earn a one point rep bump. No one knows why, they just instinctively respect you more.

~Creation Rewards

Below are rewards that may be redeemed only in creating a new character.

Extras: Certain types of non-human characters have maximum caps placed upon them to maintain on-board realism. Cash in your AtO to create a character over and above this cap.

Metamorphmagus: Owing to their canonical rarity, metamorphmagi can be created only using an AtO! A metamorphmagus is able to transform their physical features at will, though this ability is impacted by their emotional state.

Half-Veela Loner: Veela are not actually native to Britain. With this in mind, half-veela characters without played full or part-veela members of their immediate family can be created only using an AtO! Those tied to established characters remain welcome without using this reward.

Noble Birth: Though members of the nobility are generally not permitted on Charming, they are obtainable (outside of marriage) in one of two ways:

— Use an AtO to create the spouse, child, sibling, or parent of an already-played member of the nobility.
— Use an AtO to create a muggleborn character from a family with the rank of Viscount or lower.

~General Rewards

Below are rewards that may be redeemed for an existing character or during the character creation process.

Career Fast Track: The original use for an AtO, get your character the job or promotion before they qualify for it in terms of age and/or experience (as long as it's technically possible for them to hold it...)

Working Class Hero: During the VE, it was unusual for a member of the working class to have authority over their social betters. For this reason, only those who cash in an AtO may have their WC character serve as a Head of House at Hogwarts.

A Quidditch Prodigy: Generally, Charming allows first years to play on the house quidditch team only if they earn their spot during played tryouts. Use this reward to retcon your character onto their house's quidditch team in their first year, so long as there are spots available.

A Mysterious Benefactor: Grades, schmades! Some shadowy background figure is paying for your WC character (including supplies!) through their fifth year to give them that extra step up in life.
