Special Abilities

In a universe where almost everyone has magical powers, some have even more added abilities! Some of them are born, while others are developed over time—and some are rarer than others! For the purpose of showcasing and tracking some of these abilities, the following characters have ribbons to denote them:


Animagi are witches or wizards who have learned how to transform themselves into animals at will whilst continuing to be able to think as a human would. The transformation does not require a wand, and the transformed animagus will have some sort of marking that links them to their human self. The Ministry of Magic requires that animagi be registered; failure to do so risks criminal conviction. A witch or wizard's animagus form is fixed, and there is no sure way to determine what it will be prior to the first successful transformation.

Please note that if someone has become an animagus before the app process the process will have taken at least four years; IC, we ask that it takes at least two years from start to finish.

A seer has the Inner Eye, allowing them to predict the future. They are not given glimpses into the past, nor are they able to read minds. Seer abilities may be grand—making prophecies for recording at the Ministry of Magic—or more limited in scope, such as those possessed by naming seers or weather witches. A seer is different than an individual skilled at divination, and often not as practical.

Metamorphmagi are extremely rare individuals with the ability to change their physical features at will without the use of a wand or potions. They cannot change fully into a non-human, though may briefly take on a small characteristic of one such as Tonks' pig nose. The ability is impacted by the individual's emotional state, and may go haywire—or disappear altogether—accordingly

Characters are limited to one (if any!) of the above abilities. While they technically require staff permission, most cases will be dealt with during the application process without any additional effort! New skills develop and new abilities present themselves throughout the course of roleplay, though — if that happens, please contact a staff member with evidence, or check in with a member of staff if you’re not sure how to go about establishing it IC!
