Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Sloane,

Please tell me you've received the captain badge with your letter.

Miss Fairchild,

Hope your summer has gone well. Are you our new quidditch captain?

Cameron,

Of course I haven't the Captain's badge, you should have it. Or Maddy, you joined at the same time. I've got less experience. Have you not gotten it yet?
Fondly,
Sloane

My summer has been the closest to normal in a long time. It's really nice. I am not our new quidditch captain. Honestly, I was expecting this letter to be informing me that you were to be the new captain.

Sloane,

Bloody hell. Selwyn is captain. I can't believe the head of house would allow him of all people to lead us. You know what he thinks of people like me, don't you? He's mad.

Miss Fairchild,

I'm glad you've enjoyed your summer. Cherish it while it lasts; apparently Hogwarts has returned to the dark ages. Be sure to congratulate Selwyn as your new captain.

Cameron,

You've got to be kidding me... Are you sure, have you checked in with everyone? I thought Mr. Lilywick had better sense than that!
Fondly,
Sloane

Selwyn? Please tell me you're joking! He couldn't lead a hippogriff to water! Ugh, and please don't get me started on that elitist mentality of his.

Sloane,

I've checked with Miss Fairchild, and she says she never received the badge. If it's not her, and it's not you, and it's not Maddy or I, that means it has to be Selwyn. He and I are eldest players left, and we both made the team second year.

It's bloody ridiculous. How am I ever supposed to make the pros if he benches me? I know he will. You know how the Selwyns feel about muggleborns, and he's worse than any of those Slytherin ones I've encountered.

You'd better check in with Lilywick, because he's obviously not as good as he is charming. Now, anyways.

Miss Fairchild,

He'd be better off leading Slytherin. He spends time with those Lestranges. Maybe we should force Meta Lestrange to join the team. If anyone might be able to scare him, it's one of his own kind someone who will understand his mindset better. I'm not sure what else we could do.

Cameron,

That's highly unnerving. He can't bench you though, we haven't got enough talent. Certainly he wouldn't risk losing just to prove that point? It makes no sense at all.

I don't suppose it'll do anything, but I could write to Coach, he and Rufus are friendly, I think. Maybe it wasn't just his decision?
Fondly,
Sloane

Meta would probably happily join if it meant giving Selwyn hell. Perhaps we should each write letters to the Head of House? Or would that only get us kicked off sooner?

Sloane,

Now that I think about it, maybe it was Headmaster Black's way of getting back at Gryffindor for defeating Slytherin in the quidditch cup. I'm sure he knows all about Selwyn and his family.

Miss Fairchild,

I love the insinuation that it's only a matter of time before we get kicked off. The question is, will it be him who tries to torture us off the team, or will it be the head of house who removes us for hexing him after the second practice?

But yes, I'll write to Meta. You should, too. Don't mention quidditch. Just be friendly with her. Like girls do.

Cameron,

That would make far more sense. Though I never imagined the Headmaster having much to do with quidditch. I wonder if we all rebelled, we could get him ousted?
Fondly,
Sloane

Mr. Gillenwater,
A little bit of each, I'm sure. I'll write Meta after tea.
