Suspected Werewolf Slain!
Alleged Culprit Detained in Ace Lukeson Murder
On the evening of September 2nd, Mr. Ace Pendragon Lukeson was struck dead after a verbal altercation in which the assailant verbally accused Mr. Lukeson of lycanthropy. The suspect—not yet identified publicly by the Auror Office—has been detained, and further investigation is underway.
The allegation of lycanthropy is one that Mr. Lukeson had actively denied despite several rumors and speculations. Such rumors started after Mr. Lukeson's absence of known socialite Mrs. Rufina Mulciber's full moon ball. The Lukeson family has implored, alongside a long-standing established family healer, that young Mr. Ryder Lukeson had been ill and the widower Mr. Ace Lukeson had deemed family "more important than social presentation." The matter further escalated when Mr. Lukeson resigned from the Ministry entirely following a Wizengamot edict intended to root out any further werewolves in light of the Morwenna Skeeter case.
Ministry officials caution that such vigilantism is not only unwise, but also illegal. "Murder remains a more grievous crime than lycanthropy, registered or otherwise," noted Mr. Julius Scrimgeour, assistant head of the Department of Investigation. The wizard added that he trusts justice will be found for Mr. Lukeson, but that will be of small comfort to the Lukeson family.
Those in the area on that evening of September 2nd are encouraged to reach out to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement directly with information regarding the incident.
