Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

[Skills Drill] A Glimpse of Gold
#1
22 March, 1895 — Quidditch Pitch, Hogwarts

The participants of today's seeker-focused skills drill queued on the edge of the pitch, and Ben set about giving them a quick inspection. This event was less injury-prone than the bludger drill earlier in the year, perhaps, but that didn't mean students might not find creative ways to maim themselves. After dispatching one student with a... very well-loved secondhand broom to the supply closet for a more stable one, and confiscating a handful of firecrackers from the pockets of one enterprising young Gryffindor (— what had they even intended to do with them?) he released the snitches. Ten in total, which he sorely hoped the students would manage to find before the sun set in the evening. The golden orbs had a head start on the students while he explained the rules, then with a blow of the whistle he loosed them into the sky.

HOW IT WORKS
Participants | any student may participate, but aimed at house team seekers or seeking-interested members of the Quidditch or flying clubs. (Quodpot doesn't have a snitch ;P)

In Character Rules | catch a snitch. Physical contact with other students is discouraged but not strictly prohibited. No magic (other than flying, obvs) allowed.

Out of Character |
  • At any point you may post that your character is attempting to catch a snitch. Wait for me to announce if you succeeded.
  • If another character is attempting to catch the snitch, your character can contest them for it.
  • I will roll to see a) if the snitch was caught and b) which person caught it, if more than one attempted.
  • If I think your post is especially fun/well-written I might given you random bonuses to your rolls ;P
  • The threshold for catching a snitch will lower over time.
  • The thread ends when they're all caught or when it's gone on too long (Ben will call it off at sunset in-character if not concluded earlier).
  • After attempting to catch a snitch (success or failure), you cannot attempt again until 3+ posts have passed from my post announcing your success/failure. Some of these posts may be yours, eg if you post your character's reaction/flying around vibing/etc.

  • HOUSE POINTS
Members of the Flying or Quidditch clubs can earn points for club participation by posting 5+ times in the thread. (5 points/student) (if you already earned club participation points for Powder Puff Bludgers, you can't earn them again as these are the same clubs and you're already an active member).

The house which catches the majority of the snitches when the thread closes earns 15 points.
