Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
Edelweiss looked at the two contestants in front of her. Jimmy Fletcher was in her house whereas Miss Greyback was in Ravenclaw. Naturally her biases should have been geared towards House Loyalty, however Miss Greyback was a third year to Jimmy’s fifth, and Ada was intrigued by the pairing. Still, she gave both a kind smile before reading the rules. “Mr. Fletcher will be the one starting this duel today,” she announced after clearing her voice. “Mr. Fletcher, when you’re ready.”

Jimmy had high hopes here... and he had better win this first duel, against a third year! He cast rictusempra, hoping to see Miss Greyback buckle with uncontrollable laughter.
Blair was surprised to be picked against a fifth year so soon but held their nerves well, having been a seeker since the second year it wasn't unusual to find yourself face to face with a boy five years older, twice your size and with five times more years in the game. So here they were, ready to go.
The teen hadn't learned a huge amount of defensive spells yet. So started simply to get warmed up.
Mr. Fletcher’s spell had a slick sound to it, slipping through the air searching to embed itself into the much smaller third year. However Miss Greyback’s spell, executed with a thick accent that left the taste of herbs on Ada’s tongue, did the trick and successfully blocked the Gryffindor’s spell. “Miss Greyback wins this first round.” Ada announced and, seeing as there wasn’t any cleanup to be done in the aftermath, moved on easily. “Our next round will be started by her.” She bade the young Ravenclaw to begin.

Blair's eyes lit up as they won the first round and gave a little nod of the head to their opponent. Once both of them were readied, the teen cast their next spell, this time something a little more agressive.
"Flippendo! the bigger they are, the further they have to fall.
Jimmy was... pretty pissed, to put it lightly. This time, he went for a tongue-tying curse, hoping Miss Greyback wouldn't be able to get out her incantation at all.
Ada was watching Miss Greyback but nothing happened because Mr. Fletcher’s curse hit its mark. Once she put Miss Greyback to rights, Ada nodded to Mr. Fletcher. “Please begin our tie-breaker, Mr. Fletcher.”
Here went nothing – with gusto, Jimmy shot a great jet of water towards Miss Greyback, hoping to blast her backwards by the force of it. Or at least get in her eyes so she couldn't aim?
"Blur Grewback... Blur Greyburk... Blair Greyback. Better" the teen needed to check that their tongue had returned to normal before trying to cast any new spells, the wrong word could spell disaster.
A gust of water headed right for them, their hair wasn't up, and they weren't wanting to wash it until the weekend so they cast the first spell that popped into mind.
"Finite" it wasn't flashy but would hopefully dispel the water before it arrived.
The air immediately smelled like rain water as Mr. Fletcher’s spell crashed through the air, an ocean wave come to tower over Miss Greyback. When it finally came crashing down on the Ravenclaw, that signaled the end of the round. Ada restored the room to rights before casting a few drying spells on Miss Greyback. Then she announced, “Congratulations Mr. Fletcher and good luck as you advance to the next round!”
