Hello. It’s been some time since I roleplayed, especially a potter ‘verse, but I’ve been peeking around at everything the last few days and I really adore all the detail and attention given to the lore of the site! The setting is also very intriguing.
I just have a few questions… sorry if they’re a bit much.
1. I noticed the timeline has 2019 as present day, is there somewhere else I can look to make sure my character’s history is aligned with what is happening recently (and historically) in rp?
2. A bit of a combo question about two groups; are squibs allowed? Also, in light of how the Wizarding world was exiled by muggle England a less than two decades back (per the last Daily Prohpet being set in 1894), was or is there any backlash for being a muggle-born wizard/witch due to this (more so than there already is from purebloods based on “impure bloodlines”)? I know the plot page talks about halfbreeds being the new problem too… which sounds interesting!
3. More of a curiosity than a question, sorry if it’s a weird one… how do you keep the site in the era of Victorian England? Is there a reset every so often when you start to get close to the end of Victorian times?

Hi Poe!
I do so love it when the lurkers make their presence known :) With regards to your questions (which are nowhere near "much"):
- So the timeline is woefully out of date. Our present day is 2024 OOC and 1894 IC >.> I'll see if I can pull together a list of major events as a stop gap (unless Kit, the unofficial Charming encyclopedia, wants to spare me the misery? Tycho Dodonus)
- Squibs: Yes. There are at least three on board that I'm aware of, one of which is my own Maelstrom Crumb!
Backlash: Closer to the event there was some (see 1881 in the timeline!) but it was not a widespread thing! That isn't to say characters can't hold such views, though ;) We definitely have generic blood purists around always and forever, too!
Halfbreeds: There was actually a full-on ban of "halfbreed" students at Hogwarts for a while and a lot of anti-halfbreed sentiment. A lot of that has died down, but it is also illegal for humans to marry non-humans as a result, and there is still prejudice among moderate and conservative wizards.
- So we actually move in real time. If it's September in 2024, it's September in 1894, too! This means that the Victorian era won't end until 2031, and which point... I guess we're just an Edwardian board? xD
Hope that helps at least a bit! Feel free to toss more questions at us if you have them :)

Thank you!
I do have some related to the Charming Launchpad: I was wondering if I want my first character (and maybe second, after shaking off the rust...) to be off of there, if there's anything I need to do? Should I notify staff before making the profile? The application mentioned an rp sample if I'm taking a canon character, so I know I'll need to do that -- but if the character
likely either a dursley or tatting child I'm considering has a currently played relative, does that change anything about making them (besides shared history and such)?

Tycho Dodonus — Played by Kit
It might change race and anything the played relative established in their own app and in play. For example, Nicodemus Dursley is of Puerto Rican descent and obviously looks it so his direct siblings would also be Puerto Rican and their face claims should reflect that.
But otherwise so long as you keep the details mentioned in the canon list, you can just app them. You don’t need to notify staff.

Hi Poe!
Nope, besides including an RP sample in the app there's nothing special you need to do. You can post in the canon list to reserve the character you want beforehand, and if there is already a played member it's worth making sure your app details all line up with theirs, as well as what's on the canon list for the family. (And once you've made an account, it may be worth messaging the player so you can hash out any extra details or headcanons and get plotting with them!) But otherwise go for it!

look ANOTHER beautiful bee!set <3
