Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Aleksei's journal is protected by an enchantment but is also locked via magical key that they keep with them everywhere.

I was gifted this journal for my birthday. I'm told that it will keep my secrets better than a normal journal because it has magic. Magic is so wonderful, I always knew it existed. My first year at Hogwarts has been amazing. So much happened!

First there was meeting Zak on the train. He has become my dearest friend though it saddens me how he is treated by the others. It isn't his fault that his father is a vampire! And yes, vampires are real too. And ghosts. It's all so grand!

I didn't know what to think about the sorting hat but it put me in Hufflepuff. My house suits me quite well, I do think.

I have so much more to say but I am sleepy. I shall write more after some rest.

Today I went to an ice cream thing with Zak and his aunt. She seems like a very grumpy woman; she hardly smiled at all! Not even when I was at my absolute cutest possible. There is clearly something very wrong with her.

At any rate, Zak now has a cat. I thought he was adorable and Zak said he'd get him so that we could play with him at school.

Today I find myself pondering where Zak might be these days. We were so terribly close for so long. I think the half-breed ban effected him horribly. Or maybe it was the kiss.

At any rate, I hope he is doing well. I miss him. Even all these years later.
