While Hamish did enjoy the raw enthusiasm of younger students, he had to admit, older students had more finesse as they dueled, and both Miss Thompsett and Mr. Hobday seemed likely to bring skill to this particular table. After reviewing the rules, Hamish directed the Slytherin to begin.
He was facing off against a friend which made Leander a little more ambivalent about who would win. He did hope it would be himself, though. To start them off, Leander cast the jelly fingers jinx.
With a smile at Mr. Hobday Sisse took a stealing breathe. Just treat it like class or a Dueling club meeting, she coached herself. She had done these competitions before, every year except the last, but that year without seemed to make this time round that much harder.
So she started safe with a shield charm, casting it with a gently spoken, "Protego."
