February 2nd, Morning — Hogsmeade Hospital

Sina had not come home that morning. Her shift would have ended two hours ago by now, but the hospital was still the first place Oz went to seek her. It was the only place that made sense; sometimes things came up right at the end of a shift that required continued attention. It wouldn't be the first time that she stayed after her shift had officially ended, to deal with some emergency. It would be the first time that had taken over two hours, but still, it was within the realm of possibility. Given his train of thought Ozymandias had expected that when he flooed in to the hospital it would have been engulfed in chaos. He'd expected something to be on fire, injured bodies littering the waiting room — something that seemed to merit the worry he'd expended for his wife so far this morning. He was irritated to find the hospital as mundane as always. The halls had the nerve to feel quiet and sleepy. It was hard to believe that there was a catastrophe hiding somewhere behind one of these doors, but what other explanation could there be for Sina being so much delayed in returning home?

He knew what the hospital robes looked like, so it didn't take long to find an employee. "I'm looking for my wife. Thomasina Dempsey," he announced. "And you can tell her that unless she's elbow-deep in someone's insides, I'm rather annoyed with her."

Garrett was on one of his shifts where he worked part of the night and part of the morning. He was not particularly busy nor was he idle. It was a run of the mill shift for him and he was looking forward to getting off in a couple of hours. He was filling out paperwork at one of the healer stations when a man appeared stating that he was looking for his wife.

"I was sure Mrs Dempsey went home hours ago," Garrett informed the man, having seen her leave with his own eyes. "Did you want me to double check though? Maybe she forgot something and came back but I was sure I saw her leave."

Ozymandias frowned at the young man. This didn't make any sense. Perhaps Sina had forgotten something and she'd come back to get it, but that would only account for a delay of maybe ten to twenty minutes, depending on how far from the hospital she'd been when she returned. It didn't explain two hours and counting from when she ought to have been home.

"She didn't come home," he snapped, as though this ought to have been obvious. He did feel it was obvious, to an extent — he wasn't even particularly fond of Hogsmeade, much less the hospital, so he was hardly in the habit of inventing reasons to pay visits to his wife's place of work. Would he have been here at all if there was still a chance she was snoozing on one of the sofas at home? "Yes, do go look."

Maybe there was an emergency somewhere that she was dealing with and this bloke was just woefully ignorant of it... though that did seem far-fetched, unless he was especially unobservant and useless when it came to healing. He was starting to feel uneasy. If his wife wasn't at home and she wasn't at work, where was she?

The mans attitude didn't really instill a desire in a person to help him out. Garrett rather liked his coworkers though so he was a little worried if something had ended up happening. Besides, it wasn't like he knew her home life or her very well at all, really. Maybe she regularly decided to go on a lark for all he knew.

"No one has seen her since the moment she said she was heading home," Garrett informed the man after having been gone a bit as he checked the usual Healer getaways and asked their coworkers.

This was not the news Ozymandias had been hoping to hear. Not at home, not at work, but she had left on time. Where could she have gone that would have kept her out so late, and without giving any indication of it to anyone? Oz didn't necessarily expect that she would keep him apprised of every aspect of her schedule (he didn't exactly give her all the details of his), but he thought such an abrupt deviation from her usual habits would have merited at least a passing comment to someone.

"And that was at the usual time?" he pressed, though he wasn't sure he really expected this random healer he'd accosted in the hallway to know. "Did she say she was going home, or somewhere else? To a friend's house, to a bakery? Did she leave by floo or walk or apparate?"

"As far as anyone I spoke to is aware of, yes," Garrett answered. "She didn't say anything other than the usual goodbyes at the end of ones shift and headed out the way she usually does." Her husband would probably know what that meant more than he did. "Do you have reason to believe she might be in danger?" Goodness, he hoped not.

Ozy gave the healer a sharp look. He nearly snapped yes, you idiot, I already said she'd not at home, but that was mostly because the healer had told him nothing that he'd wanted to hear so far in this conversation and so he was predisposed to be irritable. Sina not being home wasn't exactly cause to think she was in danger, though, and in fact Oz hadn't been thinking it (at least not consciously) until the healer had pointed it out. What sort of danger would she be in? It was strange that she was absent without having said anything beforehand, but the odds were still in favor of her being perfectly safe and sound somewhere. He didn't want to come across as irrational and overly invested if it did turn out that she'd merely taken a detour to a friend's house, though.

"No," he said sharply, turning to go. He'd go home and check her calendar and date book and see who she'd gone to visit. Maybe after visiting some of the breakfast places she occasionally frequented first.
