Ladies Duel: Miss C. Sykes vs. Mrs. R. Ross
#1
7th March, 1891 — Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
Miss Sykes had dispatched of Miss Lestrange quite swiftly, but whether her success would continue against Mrs. Ross, Tybalt would not presume to guess. Mrs. Ross had been involved in the Institute's arranging of the tournament, after all; perhaps the Minister's wife was a real duelling enthusiast.

Quite sure they knew the rules by now, at any rate, Tyb waited as the niceties were exchanged and then invited Miss Sykes to cast the first spell.

The prospect of duelling the Minister's wife was marginally less unnerving than her previous opponent's terrifying gaze but seeing as how the witch had been instrumental in organising the tournament it was inevitable that their match was generating a crowd. Which only made Connie all the more determined to maintain her composure.

Inclining her head respectfully Connie raised her wand and attempted to transfigure the other woman into a pot plant.

Had she been aware of her opponent's intention, Ros would have found it ironic indeed—after all, she had always had a fondness for plants. Unaware as she was, however, the witch endeavoured to conjure a mirror to reflect the matron's spell.

Well, Mrs. Ross was now a very serene looking pot plant. As duels went, it was probably one of the more pleasant outcomes one could hope for.

"Miss Sykes takes the first point," Tyb offered, once Mrs. Ross was de-leafed and restored to her usual form. "Mrs. Ross to cast next."

Connie cast a knock-back jinx to throw the other woman off course. Slightly less inventive than her last effort but hopefully it would get the job done with limited embarrassment to the Minister's wife.

Once again, it was the matron whose reflexes were the fastest, and Mrs. Ross was knocked backwards before her spell could hit its mark.

Simple enough to judge, too. "Miss Sykes wins the duel!"
