Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Quote:The brain was a useful instrument but it could also be terribly deceiving. Ever since that fateful day at the museum, Cecily Gallivan's brain had started sabotaging her with a string of confirmation biases. It kept finding proof that she and Fitzroy Prewett were meant for each other. They both loved Quidditch. He used to play Quidditch for the Chuddley Cannons, Cecily's other love in this life. They had undeniably great sexual chemistry. She had even taken a Witch Weekly quiz as to which Prewett brother she was most compatible with. Her initial answers had pointed to Fitzroy, Felix and Frederick, but then Cecily had taken a better look at the questions and of course, the Ds seemed as more suitable answers for her, so there, even that Witch Weekly quiz said they were compatible. Cee didn't even believe in astrology, but she read in another article that he was a Pisces and she knew she was a Virgo and, upon looking it up, it appeared that their star signs were also terribly compatible.
As for him being a rake... Zelda did have a point, but... Like many naive girls who'd fallen for their first fuckboy, Cee thought she could fix him. She could tame the bad boy.

Quote:The thought of marrying Cecily Gallivan had occurred to Fitz in the way that the thought of marrying any attractive young lady did: a firm maybe and a hasty step away to more pleasurable topics, like sport or brandy.

Was he silly for having made tea? Was that not done when inviting unmarried women to one's home in secret? It wasn't as if he could've broken out the bottle of scotch.
Quote:It was one thing to develop feelings for the cousin you were raised with and eventually marry them - wasn't that the plot of Mansfield Park? Not that she'd ever read it. It was another thing entirely to raise two cousins together with the expectation that they would be man and wife, she may as well have encouraged them to fornicate the moment they figured out how!

"I can just imagine him at Honeyduke's, picking up sweets for you!" She imagined a giant amongst Hogwarts aged children, dressed in dragon leather, which was very vivid and fantastical but a fun image nonetheless.
What would it even look like if someone walked in right now? (Even worse than it could, probably, because Lestrange was one of his players - regardless of the rest, this was a new low of unprofessionalism.)
She knocked twice - a courtesy she had agreed to when he was being less absurd - and when she received no reply Helena opened the lock with a flick of her wand. She was mildly surprised to find it locked at all.
"Elmer! Are you here?!"
If he wasn't, where could she look next? (If he was she was already sure of her next action: skinning him alive.)

Miss Binns was M, was his weird letter friend, and she was also — a middle class woman who had articles written about her in Witch Weekly and whose brother owned Whizzhard Books. Kieran had a sister he fought with, scars down his body, and a history of selling his own blood.

“Only once, in the flesh,” he admitted in return, with an expression as he thought of it that was partly lingering horror and partly morbid curiosity (and maybe weighted towards the latter, because he was a terrible person).
Quote:He had to go back to old tricks, then, old places, the escapes he would have sought when he was nineteen. He was a coward, and he knew it, and maybe it was finally time to accept it.
