Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Strange Strangers Meet
#1
November 16, 1888 - London
It was certainly not a day off. No matter how many times several of her employees had insisted that she should take one. Simply because she wasn't at the home did not mean that she had the day off. It was a supply run. Nothing more, nothing less. Wood was one thing she needed to get, as well as possibly getting another outfit for work. Stains were becoming quite a pain, and asking her few wizarding employees for anti-stain spells constantly was getting annoying. That, and she liked to keep up with current fashion sometimes.

As she looked at her list, she hadn't really thought about stopping to do so. That led to bumping into someone. Looking up, she sighed to herself. "My apologies. I should have been far more careful." She stated politely. Taking more of a look at the other person, she noticed that he was... like her. Another vampire. Not a strange sight for the owner of a funeral home run by them. But still, it was strange to see one that didn't work for her.

It had been a while since Dimitri had been in London. He mostly kicked around the vampire caverns in Hogsmeade and didn't tend to stray very far. He didn't hunt since he used the Ministry resources for vampires so there was really no reason for him to beyond the village unless he was feeling bored like he had been earlier. It wasn't like it was easy to travel, after all. He dearly missed being able to apparate.

He had managed to get here though and he was a bit distracted by the London scene when someone bumped into him. "It's all right," he said before getting a proper look at her. Pale skin, dark circles - the hallmarks of either being a vampire or a human that didn't get a good nights rest that often. "Hello, I'm Dimitri Lancaster." He was curious about who she was but still had the rigid decorum growing up as an upper class pureblood that had been put into him.

Traveling was never a main concern on Blossom’s mind. Even as a human. It had been different when she was a child. When her father would take them both and travel to visit friends or simply take a break from it all. Even then it was not too often.

"I am Blossom Spinnakers." Perhaps he recognized her last name. Some vampires seemed to. It wasn’t every day that you hear about a vampire run funeral home. Gossip did get around. Even some humans talked about it. Good for business.

As the woman gave him her name, Dimitri found that he did not recognize it at all. Blossom Spinnakers was a name that would stick in his mind, surely? There were so many questions that he wanted to ask her. For example, he wanted to know if she resided in London and how she was received by the public there. It was also pretty amazing to meet a vampire that also seemed to be well-attired. Not that some of the vampires in the cavern weren't well dressed.

He had no idea what to say but he supposed it was important to just try and be subtle. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I feel like there is something we might have in common"

It was true that there did not seem to be many vampires who could afford clothes like hers. Or have a home. She personally inherited hers from her father, and kept it. People seemed to either be fascinated by her or avoid her. As if she cared what they thought about her personally. If business was good, she could care less about the whiny humans.

Nodding, she realized that there might be muggles around to listen. It certainly wouldn’t be smart to start discussing what they were around muggles. "Indeed. Perhaps we should go to my shop to discuss our similarities." Whether he knew about her business or not, he was about to find out.

"What sort of shop do you possess?" Dimitri asked, offering his arm like any gentleman would do with a young lady they were walking with. He'd been upper class in his human life and some habits were deeply ingrained into his system. He had never knowingly met a vampire that held an actual business. This was already very interesting for him.

Being offered an arm was not a very familair thing to her. Had men done that during her human years? She had never really paid much attention. But still, she took the arm. "A funeral home. Both humans and vampires work for me. I'm quite proud of it, actually."

"How interesting. How do the humans take to their vampire co-workers?" Dimitri inquired curiously. There were still some humans that interacted with him but even then it was a difficult thing. Dimitri was still so young as a vampire that he still had difficulty with tamping down the urge to drain his human friends dry.

"It depends on the employee. Some are quite used to it, having grown up with parents that worked for me. Others are simply open minded. Though they are more catious. Not that I blame them. I'm careful to keep vampire and human workers separate for most of the work. A frustrated vampire is no one's friend." No matter how friendly everyone is to one another, an accident can happen. Trying to keep all of her employees safe was important to her.

"And how does one get hired there? What sort of work would be done by the vampires?" He asked, so very curious to hear more. It had never occurred to him that there could possibly be semi-respectable jobs for him in the world. At the very least, better than how he had currently been making a living.

#11
"Interview, as best a background check as I can... which isn't much. Recommendations help, but are not required." Was he interested? It wasn't as though she was complaining. Though it was frustrating to teach new employees. "Vampires do the same work as humans. Depending on the skill set. Workers who have no previous funeral home experience are judged based on any past experience and are trained in a variety of fields until one or two are narrowed down to be the best position for ones job." Her biggest concern was safety and the business reputation.

That all sounded reasonable enough though a background check on a vampire was a tall order considering how long some had lived and what some had to do to just survive. "I would love to see it and hear more whenever you might have the extra time," Dimitri stated.

#13
It was difficult, and sometimes background checks were quite harder than human ones. But it was worth it so as to keep her human employees safe. "I have some shopping to do, though I am usually at the home most of the time. Stop by whenever you feel like and we can see if I can take some time to speak with you."

Dimitri grinned in response to her words. "I'd love to, I'll be sure to stop by very soon!" The idea of a stand-up job that was far better than how he was currently surviving was sheer heaven to him. "I'll leave you to your shopping for now."

#15
Blossom gave him a nod. "Good day to you."
