A fierce and fiery redhead, Kiva stands at exactly five feet tall, with expressive hazel eyes in a fey-like face. However, these are perhaps the only things that remain of her mortal life. Her fair skin is hinted with an underlying blue tone, her hazel eyes are slightly sunken and forever ringed with a dark circle of sleeplessness, and her teeth are far too sharp. She does have access to a fair supply of blood, however, so she's not the thinnest of vampires.History:
1786: Caoimhe ó Cionaoith is born in the middle of the night, to a mother recently widowed of her first and only husband. 1798: Caoimhe's mother dies in an accident involving her employer's horse - the details are kept from the twelve-year-old. She is sent to live in an orphanage. Over the next several months, Caoimhe repeatedly attempts to run away, though each time comes to failure.
1802: Finally departing from the orphanage, Caoimhe finds work as a housemaid to an eccentric man, a Mr. Coster. Mr. Coster is rarely seen during the day, and Caoimhe learns quickly not to call attention to the cries and moans in the basement. She can't help but wonder, though.
1805: Three years of stable employment are not enough to dissuade Caoimhe from finally, finally learning the cause of all the noise in the house's underbelly. Shortly after arriving to the home for a day's work, Caoimhe creeps down into the basement and discovers Mr. Coster with a woman in his arms and blood upon his chin. He casts her aside, charges his maid, and sinks those sharp, wicked teeth into her mortal throat. Before losing consciousness, all she hears is him whispering, "Curiosity is such a fine trait.." Over the next few months, he begins instructing her in the traits and methods necessary for a vampire to survive - hunting, appropriate feeding techniques, how to safely hide one's own nature from the ordinary mortal, and most of all, about the secretive society of witches and wizards to whom she now technically belonged, though on the periphery. The pair continue to live in secret at Mr. Jonathan Coster's manor for the next twelve years, during which Jonathan teaches Caoimhe to read, write, play music, and most of all, paint.
1817: Caoimhe, growing restless from isolation and being stuck in the far too fancy home, sets the building ablaze with Mr. Coster inside. She stands in the garden as the manor burns, playing the part of a young maid in shock, and then begins to make her own way in the world, funding her travels by selling simple portraiture and landscapes.
1821: Her journey takes her to London, where she finds herself suddenly immersed in this ellusive wizarding culture. She makes her presence known, and applies as a portrait artist at a local funeral home operated by vampires - Spinnakers Funeral Services. To make things easier for both her new employer and the government, she takes on the more English-sounding variant of her surname, and allows them to spell her name phonetically. Caoimhe ó Cionaoith becomes a thing of the past, as Kiva Kenny begins to make her mark on wizarding London.
1822-1851: During this period, Kiva is highly preoccupied by her employment at Spinnakers - especially since the funeral home offers her the opportunity to not have to hunt!
1852: Kiva purchases her first camera, which she began to make use of the new fad of post-mortem photography, something which was more easily accessible to those with lesser means than her usual portraiture. Both are offered, though the photographs are quite popular.
1853-1888: Much of the day-to-day life is quite the same at Spinnakers Funeral Services. Not many new things happen around a funeral home. It's been mostly over the last year that anything new and interesting has been happening. With vampire activists popping up, Kiva is entirely invested in the improvement of her kind - though at a distance. She doesn't want to lose her job.
