Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Miss Henrietta Davis —

I saw you in a bookshop window one week ago today and I cannot get you out of my head, so I have to write this down. You were smiling at something, which was what caught my attention through the glass. Your beauty lit up the entire shop. I couldn't look away, much as I wanted to. I had to stand at the window for as long as I could see you, memorizing your movements, the way you held your head slightly tilted while you read the book in your hand, the way your eyes shone when you made your final selection.

After you left, I went in and asked the clerk what you had purchased and what your name was. He was hesitant at first but he ended up giving in after I professed my love for you to him. It surprised me to hear that we knew each other briefly at Hogwarts. I hadn't even recognized you.

I have reread the book you chose four times and I imagine you reading it, smiling at it with your head tilted like I saw in the shop, lovingly turning the pages. I have dog-eared the pages I believe you liked the best so that we can re-read those chapters together and reminisce about our favorite passages. You'll have made us cups of hot cocoa and we'll be tucked in close to the fire, warmed by blankets and cozied up in the warmth of the hearth.

I have passed by the bookshop every day now in hopes to see you again, but thus far, I have had no luck. The book clerk has begun to frown at me whenever he sees me pass by and refuses to answer whether you've been to the shop that day. I fear my opportunity to know your love has passed me by, but my heart will always remember our time together.

Forever in Love,
Finlay Connolly

Mr. Finaly Connolly,
While I am flattered by your compliments, I'm not sure we know enough about one another to romanticize any possible connection with one other. Though I would not mind getting to know you, if you are open to the idea. Perhaps we can meet for tea and discuss the book you had mentioned?

From,
Miss Henrietta Davis
