Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
With the same account, complete eight different threads where your character interacts with eight different usergroups. At least one must be a non-human, and one a student.
Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
The 2025 Student Update Thread is here! Please ensure you fill out the form for all incoming or current students, as well as check NEWT requirements if you are a professor.
We will start rolling over usertitles and the CD list after the August AC – anyone not processed by the new school year in September will be deactivated, so do it before you forget!
Activity Check Incoming!
Reminder that the August AC is coming this Sunday, 3rd August! Make sure your house is in order please xD
Another activity check come and gone! The list of inactive accounts has been compiled and deactivations and list maintenance are underway :) If you lost a character you'd like back, you may post in Maintenance starting Wednesday, 6th August. If you have no currently active characters you can post in maintenance immediately!
(If you lost a character before the AC, you can post there whenever you'd like!)
The next AC will be on Sunday 7th September.
Posting Wizard
The winners of July's Posting Wizard are Chris (Violetta DeCroix) with 57 and Kit (Tycho Dodonus) with 20! Congrats both~
A Charming Weekend approaches! We'll be celebrating from 12pm EST August 22nd through 12pm EST August 25th. Stay tuned for more details or find more info on general Charming weekends here! [1, 2].
All of your characters have been listed in the Character Directory—check back on your entries to make sure they were processed properly! Anyone reactivated this month will need to be placed back on.
Characters made before the last AC have posted at least once since the last AC
Profile has been filled in if not done during acceptance (Did you get a "DIY" PM? You'll need to do this!)
Your character's height is displayed in their mini-profile—if you reactivate an account, this may need doing!
Please remember to declare your character's selection no later than September 4th. This is especially important for actual werewolves, as resignation fallout and "no option selected" fallout are different. Characters who know they will be choosing one of the keep-the-job options can state as much and update with their final decision later for the interest of keeping timelines moving <3
Back to School!
Tomorrow, students from across Wizarding Britain will return to Hogwarts! Reminder of how the routes work:
Students living in London will take the train from King's Cross Station.
Students living in Irvingly will grab the same train as it goes through.
Students living in Hogsmeade need not take a train at all.
Students living anywhere else can choose to grab the train in London, Irvingly, or go straight to Hogsmeade, depending on what option is closest to them.
Students in years 2-7 will take thestral-drawn carriages from Hogsmeade Station to the castle.
First years will instead cross the Black Lake in enchanted rowboats—four to a boat, please!
A sorting thread will be posted sometime on September 1st for all unsorted first years, and class threads may begin as early as Tuesday!
September Events
We have them!
Camp Charming wraps up in one week from today. Want a new update? PM Kayte with per-account total post counts before then. Don't forget to post a completed thread to cement your glorious finish!
We will be wrapping the Camp period with a Charming Sunday (not a full weekend!) on September 7th. This does count as a Camp Charming event for those who still need it, but posts may not count towards CC totals or the activity check.
Charming Sunday is also your ticket to the September Writing Challenge stamp this year!
