Werewolf Hunt: Next Steps

On Tuesday, August 26th, all "supervisory" staff at the Ministry of Magic, as well as members of the Wizengamot, will recieve a hand-delivered letter containing a choice. This choice must be made no later than the next full moon—September 4th.

All affected characters will be PMed a link to this thread on the account involved.

Background

Given the fact that a member of the Wizengamot was revealed to be a secret werewolf, Next Steps were not decided as a whole but by a subcomittee led by Lucius Lestrange and peopled by "old guard" sorts, generally conservative in nature. Their mandate was to develop an effective but reasonable approach to the current circumstances, and indeed, they came up with a slightly more generous plan than many of them would have liked. The first other members of the WG would have heard of their conclusion is in this letter, with the exception of the Minister of Magic who Lucius briefed the day before.

Your Choices Are...

IC Option	Effect(s)
1. To attend an in-depth interview with the Chief Warlock no later than 3rd September, 1895.	A Legilimency sit-down with Lucius. You will be told at the start of the meeting that he will be probing your mind. While he cannot pass blocks (occulmency) or gaps, he will note them and they will be assumed to be concealing lycanthropy or other illegal doings; you will lose your job and be investigated. He might pick up on things you'd rather he not.
2. To attend a small party at Gringotts Wizarding Bank the evening of September 4th.	AKA the next full moon. Though it is not stated in the invitation, all 'guests' will be passing through Thief's Downfall, meaning polyjuice and enchantments will be washed away. Your character may or may not make this connection in advance.
3. To resign your position without disgrace or prejudice, and continue your life as you see fit.	Quit your job! Your rep will be set to 7 (or 6, if already at a 7) for a period of one year for "rumoured werewolf". Although you're not supposed to be investigated with this option, there may be longer-reaching impacts.
[Do Nothing]	Your character will lose their job and be investigated.

What About Morwenna?

The cause of our latest panic! Morwenna Skeeter is still in custody, with a trial set for late September. All members of the Wizengamot will be permitted to speak, in addition to the following who will be invited, but not required, to voice their position as well:

Morwenna Skeeter, herself
Mrs. Skeeter's legal representative
A character witness/favourable voice of Mrs. Skeeter's choosing
Justin Ross, former Minister of Magic who appointed Mrs. Skeeter to the WG
Emerett Picardy, a noted voice on lycanthropy
Percival Adlard, Mrs. Skeeter's former second and current head of her former department

What About the Rest of the Ministry?

Once this "layer" is delt with, it will be up to individual department heads to proceed as they see fit with their employees.

After some careful consideration, Fitz has decided that a lame party is worse than half an hour with Lucius, and so has selected option one.

Mateo is politely baffled, but also chooses option 2 because tbf Lucius terrifies him just a little and he's not an idiot.

Both I and Oz are not sure if Lucius would actually force him to do this / could force him to do this but regardless he's going to the Option Two Lock-in Party and taking the opportunity to essentially make it an impromptu war room with all his top staff. Expect to be lightly interrogated on all your opinions and if he thinks your opinions don't suck you'll be roped into strategizing How The Fuck We Get Out of This Mess.

Algernon is tragically smart enough not to want someone poking around in his head, so he's picking option 2.

  

Adam is annoyed he still has to do this at all, but would prefer to do option 2 than spend 30 minutes with someone probing his brain. :P

It’s an open secret—I’d assume most heads know he can and would make that leap, but squad heads and ass heads may not

Your character won’t be told that’s what it is until the start of the meeting, at which point they may choose to decline and select a different option instead, but Lucy’s gonna look at them sideways. The only people who would assume that’s what it is are those who know he is a legilimens!
