Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

History:
1862Lear is born into the Selden family and is their first son. Mallory, his elder sister dies around the same time.
1863A sister is born and is named Ophelia.
1865A sister named Morrigan is born.
1867Yet another sister is born, this one is named Goneril.
1869There is disturbance in the household as Ophelia starts to waste away and the Selden mother becomes increasingly erratic.
1870Ophelia dies and so does Lear's mother. Their father claims they both had the same disease. Never quite close to his siblings to begin with due to gender differences and differences in interests, Lear starts distancing himself from his siblings, certain one or both will also die.
1871The Selden home and business office are destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire. Rather than rebuild, Lear's father sells off aspects of it and continues to do so over the years.
1873Lear goes off to Ilvermorny where he is sorted into Thunderbird. Later in the year, his family move to Britain. Which annoys him somewhat since the timing made it so that he now has to travel back and forth from America to attend Ilvermorny.
1876Morrigan begins attending Hogwarts. Lear is a bit relieved they aren't in the same school as it has become increasingly difficult to be around her as he has become convinced by now that she too will one day drop dead.
1877Goneril dies. Lears feelings on it are complicated since he kind of expected it by now but she was still his sibling, after all.
1878Around the time of his sixteenth birthday, Lear's father shares a terrible family secret with him. He reads the journal and information his father provides. Abraham Selden becomes a name he loathes. He further distances himself from Morrigan and his other female Selden relations. It was one thing to have a feeling that his female relations were dooomed, quite another to have it so confirmed.
1879-80Lear falls madly in love with another boy. Things heat up and they are almost caught. Suspicions whirl but nothing can be proven so it ultimately fades in time. Besides, soon after Lear is back to Britain as a graduate.
1880-82Once Lear achieves his NEWTs, he works for the Ministry as an Intern in their Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Lear's lack of personal discretion often makes him the object of quiet rumors. He also comes to realize that perhaps working in the Ministry and law department just do not suit him. (Besides, he technically breaks the law whenever he takes up with a new lover, SO, perhaps best to avoid their gaze.)
1882-84Lear begins working for a publishing house and settles into that for a couple of years. He develops a love of reading, watching and writing plays. His employer reads some of his work and urges him to perhaps look into what the world of theatre can offer him. The idea appeals to Lear greatly so he does so.
1884-90Lear begins working at the de Montefault Theatre and slowly becomes established as a playwright. In 1889, his sister jilts a man at the altar. Lear finds the whole thing tragically romantic since he suspects Morrigans reasonings.
1890Lear has creative differences (and a torrid affair with one of the theatres principal actors that ends badly) with the owners of de Montefault Theatre so he decides to part ways with them. For a couple of months, he simply writes and then he hunts through real estate. He comes across a rundown, old theatre that is being sold in London.
1890-PresentLear puts hard work into his place and soon it is ready to showcase performances. It is hard going at first but over the next couple of years, it gains a cult sort of popularity. Lear has his regular patrons and it is enough to keep him fed, his employees paid and the place upkept. He also sets up a flat above the theatre for moments when he wants to privacy but he mainly continues living at the family home.

Personality:
A man full of passion and romance, Lear has a hard time with discretion. He tries his best but he simply wears his heart on his sleeve too much when it comes to love. He is creative and ambitious (when goals align with his interests anyway) with a craving for recognition. He can be a tad prone to melodramatics.
