Romancing 1894

New year, new shenanigans, right?

I noticed quite a few of us had romance and specific tropes on our resolutions, so I present to you, my hopes and desires and available characters. Please be gentle (actually don't, I'm into that, if you are...) and PLEASE hit me with things that don't exactly meet my listed wants, I may not know what I want until presented with ideas. My hope (for me) here is to get out of my comfort zone and thread with more members! My hope for YOU is that this is a place to springboard hopes and ideas into new IC things!

And so I present; a huge list of tropes, for ~inspiration.

Things that interest me:

-- Girl/Boy Next Door - most interesting to me if they are completely mismatched either personality of life-situationally!
-- Marriage of Convenience - goes down however, but then they need to navigate somehow; beard marriage anyone?
-- Healer/Patient Romance - long term patient falls for healer or vice versa?
-- Missed Connections - met once at a ball and can't stop thinking about the other person? almost got run over by a carriage and your mystery hero disappears before you can thank them? lots of options!
-- Unrequited Love - I have tried this and failed, >.> but am open to tryin again on either side!

Characters available

-- Tobias Ollivander for anything really, he's like an offshoot of my typical Golden Retriever and is more... German Shepherd. He could be a fun grumpy/sunshine twist or a great, open-ended, marriage of convenience!
-- Fiona McCarthy could be another good marriage of convenience, though would lean toward love at some point?
-- Angie Swan is perfect for enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, a FWB situation, or a single-by-thirty! (which isn't that far away!)
-- Dean Hudson is the PERFECT POLYSHIP candidate! Let me be the third wheel to your open/established relationship?
-- Eileen Buchanan is the grumpiest of grumps but also secretly a romantic? Black cat/golden retriever vibes? Also GOOD for a hateship!
-- Emmett Harper is the #1 golden retriever out there, boy/girl next door, reconnecting friends from their youth?
-- Kenna Buchanan is also a good polyship candidate! Boy (or girl!)/girl next door, young love in the slums? She's v. into ladies, but also wants a family? idk, we're working through it.
-- Sage Whitby is all over the place, but open for anything really!
-- Sydney Podmore is my "it'll happen when it happens" kind of guy, so could be a marriage of convenience or missed connections? He's got a bit of a white knight complex so would bail somebody out of a bad situation?

Romance Aside

-- a strong, strong hateship, please, I love antagonism. STILL longing for thissss
-- bromances, my dudes need more bros.
-- work stuff, I have so many ministry guys that could use some work stuff!

Plotting Preferences: now as many of you know (and in case you didn't) I am a WING IT kind of girl, so nothing will ever be endgame for me until it happens IC. No hard feelings if that's not your jam, I just prefer when things happen organically, so I'm super into IC chemistry. I am also very communicative, so please don't ever hesitate to be like "yo girl, I'm super into this, where's your head at?" or "hey, I'm not feeling this, let's dissolve IC." I also LIVE for the drama and chaos, but am capable of you know, being more restrained, lol. I am also uninterested in love triangles at the moment!

I am into most varieties of [romance] ships but I only have 2 available people and they're both wildly inappropriate :P Xavier Davies to whom no woman will ever be as interesting as a cursed clock and Magnolia Addams who - has baggage. XD I'd be SUPER into a romance plot for added drama for her but like, she presents as a heavily pregnant widow and has no prior connections so... tall walls to vault there.

Merida Greyback - Boy/Girl next door - mutually oblivious crushes, or one sided works for her. Is currently smitten with Endymion Dempsey
Healer/Patient - really any animal injury works here in theory, but extra points if the man is either a werewolf, or has the Bill Weasley level of werewolfism.
Or a member of the werewolf capture unit for family stress.

Ginevra Blackwood - Marriage of convenience - she is making poor choices and is either going to get herself into trouble of the family kind, and either she - or her family could make an arrangement for her. She is my most likely to end up in a toxic, unhappy relationship where she throws things because of either her poor choices or an arrangement thats really poorly thought out. She would accept polyship but only if she is the one with the legal status.

Madeleine Backus - She is the typical girl next door: Another shop owner, or maybe someone she has known from school. She is also here for class difference chaos, amormentia or other terrible decisions.

Adrestia Dantés - Would be perfect for enemies to lovers

Nephele Lestrange - very slow burn, dead letter (you've got mail style) or missed connections, childhood sweet heart/unrequited.


I can also potentially offer:
Christabel Daphnel -open to something interesting or weird here, potential to be toxic
Elizabeth Cardew -work rival/enemies to lovers, opposites attract,
Longwei Chang - missed connection, pining for the girl next door.
Rose Hart - -enemies to lovers, Thruple

But open to seeing how people vibe.

I have many characters so assume they are mix and matchable for the things I am interested in which are:
-- sunshine/grumpy
-- best friends sibling
-- siblings best/close friend that said sibling would personally spray with water to get away from the character (especially interested in this for Lycoris Dempsey)
-- marriage of convenience that turns into love
-- one fell first, the other fell harder
-- Reuniting with an old crush or ex
-- Angel/Devil Shipping: Romance between a sweet-natured character and a darker, more devilish character.
-- Childhood Friends promise to get married when they grow up if theyre both still single by a certain age and actually do so.
-- this is so toxic, if this was real life, I'd suggest one of them gets a restraining order. (I'd kill you if you left me, I would kill anyone for looking at you wrong as example vibes)

Basically if anything sounds like its something you would read in a webtoon/manhua - give it to me.

Okay THIS IS FAR FETCHED BUT SINCE EVERYONE IS MENTIONING POLYAMORY-

two beard marriages where the couples swap partners at night (like Man A heads over to sleep with Man B while Woman B comes over to Woman A) but then one of the married couples accidentally catches feelings for each other and now it's - weirdly cheating, maybe, but not? - and needs to be negotiated with lots of angst.

Obviously I have no one poised for this but MAN

Alright, well I thought I replied to this but apparently not so here we gooo, a list of tropes I like in no particular order:

• All Grown Up – Characters reunite after one or both of them has had several years to mature.
  
• Amnesia – One half of a romance suffers from permanent or temporary amnesia, forgetting all or part of their live and possibly their love for their partner resulting in the journey to love once more. [This sounds very soapy and I'm cackling, I love it xD]
  
• Betrayal – A character is betrayed by their lover, either through misunderstanding or deliberate acts.
  
• Bodyguard – One of the characters acts as a bodyguard to another, protecting them from danger, leading to romantic feelings to bud.
  
• Enemies to Lovers – The protagonist detests the hero, usually due to an antagonist history, yet attraction develops and eventually love. [THIS IS MY WEAKNESS]
  
• YAH SURE I'M DOWN FOR A POLYAMORY OT3

Actually that sounds like so much fun. Or another poly thing. I think the only one I'm not open to considering it for is Calla.

I have almost no one I can throw at anybody but I am 100% willing to make some characters if anyone's craving Sallie plots xD. I am up for pretty much all of the stuff mentioned in this thread >:)

Xander here is probs best suited to an enemies to lovers plot if anyone's interested in that, or maybe healer/patient? I also 100% think it would be funny if he accidentally fell in love with a werewolf lady but he is extremely unlikely to be not anti-werewolf without some ~drama~.

I guess Wren could meet someone about her age and have a puppy crush on them but that's about all I want for her atm. Or like a realllllllllllly slow burn where she has classes with someone and eventually by sixth or seventh year they realize they're in love xD

Further thoughts:

Enemies to Lovers
Merida - ideally actually someone who hates Murdock (as DMLE head) and intends to use Merida to get revenge,

Mistaken Identity: Characters mistake one another for someone else, leading to confusion and eventually romance. - Maddie, Merida, or Christabel would all work here.

Maybe a Cyrano type situation either with a beautiful girl and a bookish one, or a handsome dude, and his quiet friend. I can potentially contribute to either end of this one!

stranded together - dodgy portkeys and broken wands! Lets strand two characters together - my issue is that the like of Merida might actually like it, depending on who she is stranded with, but certainly the 'Romance' - with a capital R of the stranding might run away with her! Elizabeth would hate it but would probably thrive in the desert island scenario

Childhood - Maddie is my most likely candidate.
