"Reference My Characters" Canons
#1
So confession time: I love when another player feels comfortable enough to reference my character. For instance when Bee's Quin got a bottle of wine from Percy and Annabeth on his wedding night.

Another confession: I feel awkward referencing others' characters in case I step over a line or write something wrong. But I really want to because it makes the world of Charming so much more vibrant in my opinion. So I usually just pick on my own characters.

Which is where this thread comes into play.

I have a couple canons about some of my characters that I assume everyone who interacts with them knows. Likely you're just like me though and nervous to do so. SO I've started this thread as a place to list these out (I'll be adding more for my characters as I think about it). If there is something here feel free to reference it in your own threads. Hope this helps to add some depth and confidence in your writing!

Xoxo,
Fallin

Sisse
  • Sisse is an avid letter writer. If you are friends with her you can assume you get a letter a week if you don't see her in person. This includes Lester, Ned, and Cam as well as any current or former dorm mates or anyone who is considered a friend.
  • Sisse makes homemade Christmas cards every year for her friends
  • Sisse is often found in the library at Hogwarts
  • If you are near her she will likely start up a conversation with you and have lots of smiles and nice things to say

Laurel
  • Laurel sends her daughters boquets of flowers with meanings regarding wisedom, learning, and luck before school exams
  • Laurel knows everyone on high street and tries to stay up to date with their love lives
  • If she's heard a rumor about someone and knows they aren't a good person but they are wooing a young lady and sending a bouquet through her shop she will sneak in a few flowers that have the meaning of "warning" or something that indicates the lady should be on guard
  • Has "adopted" several children into her family. Namely Jack Dorset and Sisse Thompsett.
  • If one of her daughters brought you home with them she will treat you like family
  • If her daughters are having a hard time she makes them boquets for their bedrooms
  • The night before one of her daughters' weddings she will sit them down for the talk with a bottle of wine, some bread, cheese, and their favorite treat and then give them way too much detail and also include that sex can be fun. The unmarried daughters know this happens but no nothing about the actual conversation other than it is about the wedding night

Dahlia
  • Often sneezes when exposed to dahlias

Lottie
  • Is often barefoot at home
  • Her voice is often so quiet you may miss what she said
  • She will trail off in the middle of a conversation - be aware

Malou
  • Usually introduces herself as Marie if her first name comes up
  • Speaks quietly but firmly
  • Gave her stepson a candle nightlight of Hogwarts
  • Always says goodnight to her step children at bedtime by coming to their room and checking on them

Toby
  • Often includes Shakespeare quotes and monologues and will use stage actions and stage voice when he does so - definitely doesn't mind drawing attention

Percy
  • Often has a scowl on
  • Is usually a wallflower at social events and avoiding conversations
  • Teases Quin and Mason
  • Walks with a cane and occasionally has a limp

I have so many characters but I will edit them into this first post as things come to me!

NATHANIEL GALLIVAN II
  • Has a tendency to mispronounce or misspell any words that have more than two syllables. Sometimes even two syllables if their verbal pronunciation is different than how it would look written out phonetically.

RAJ SANDOW
  • During his Hogwarts years, he had a propensity for trying out various flying tricks.

TYCHO DODONUS
  • His Wellingtonshire house is rainbow shingled.
  • His yard is overrun by garden gnomes that will bite your ankles if you aren't careful or piss them off.

Can we dance like we're all alone
Stop the time and make it still
Hold you like I always will

Ooh, I like this Smile I also adore seeing people reference my characters in things, so if you do, I’d love to hear about it xD So I’ll add some things about my characters that you might reference; if you aren’t sure about referencing something, feel free to send me a message about it and I’ll answer as soon as I can.

Amarantha
  • As we know, a total nightmare; references to her bullying, especially muggleborns or halfbreeds is 100% canon
  • Members of The Nightshade Society can reference meetings taking place, dark arts shit happening, etc
  • She’s the President of the Potion’s Club so referencing her being there at meetings or setting up events or whatever is fine
  • Tends to only hang around other members of The Nightshade Society, otherwise is doing solitary activities
  • All Valenduris family members are allowed to use Hemlock, her owl, for sending their mail if they need it

Autumn
  • Can almost always be found outside, trying to climb trees, sitting by the lake, running around, etc
  • Need your character to know about a book that’s full of fantasy and adventure but it’s written by muggles? Autumn might have lent it to you
  • She has an orange barn cat named Ginger and you can totally reference finding her randomly out and about around Hogwarts
  • Once it hits break time, she sends long letters to her magical friends, though they’re rare because she has to go all the way to London to send them
  • Blurts out answers in class, won’t sit still, and oftentimes causes some disruptions in class; professors are welcome to mention this

Dorian
  • He has a Parisian accent! It’s less intense than it used to be, but when speaking French it comes out strongly
  • He can almost always be found in the common room or the library studying because he’s an anxious high achiever
  • Anytime you need a prefect for something you can tag him and I’ll get to you asap xD
  • He is a Parselmouth and most classmates/professors probably know? He doesn’t keep it a secret but he doesn’t bring it up first either
  • If you visit Rosier Manor, you might come across Elysian, his pet black viper
  • Regularly gets care packages from his parents and his Aunt & Uncle in France that he is inclined to share with his friends
  • When anxious he enjoys clearing his mind with piano and he is highly skilled in it, so maybe you can hear him in the music room

Elijah
  • Is a half-vampire, this is well known, and if you knew him in school you may have had an opinion on that (especially as he openly ate bloodpops)
  • During the school years of 1891-1892 & 1892-1893 he was tutored by Jessamine Parkinson and could be found in the library a lot
  • If you ever go to his parent’s clock shop, you can reference him being there because he works there as an apprentice
  • Also, if you’re there, you may come across a Niffler trying to take your stuff; Elijah apologizes for Sapphire’s behavior
  • Aside from like four classes he really did terribly as a student and ended up failing out after his O.W.L.s so classmates or professors might know

Francesca
  • Best friends, attached at the hip with Jessamine Parkinson; if you know one you are well aware of the other
  • Always apologizes for Jessamine’s gossiping despite not saying anything during the time it’s happening
  • Her father being fired for alcoholism is public knowledge, as is her elder siblings not liking her because of their mother’s death
  • Her family had to move from Bartonburg North to South because of financial difficulties; this is also well documented
  • Chessie is almost always helping with magical creatures or in the green houses and is super helpful to younger students
  • Chessie is motherly and protective; if you find yourself lonely or scared in Hufflepuff, she will adopt you against your will

Heather
  • Are you a ministerial candidate? She probably has taken notes on what you said or asked you loads of questions about your stances
  • She organizes rallies, protests, events, etc. for her political activism so you can mention she was there, is speaking, or hosted something
  • She writes articles, pamphlets, and other various things for her political activism so maybe you’ve read something of hers
  • Are you a pretty lady around her age? She probably has flirted with you before whether you realized it or not xD
  • Are you a gentleman who tried to dance with her at a ball? You can safely say she probably dodged you in the classiest way she could
  • If you are a member of Rip Van Winkle, your character can reference her being there too; even dressed in men’s clothing
  • Also, if you’re a member of RVW, a lady around her age, you can also assume she may have slept with you (lmk first though!)
  • She may have given your character a tarot card or palm reading; though, usually she’s just making stuff up as her real visions are more complex

Please reference my characters literally any time you want xoxoxo

Like even if what you say is totally off-base and out of character we could attribute it to a misunderstanding and use it for plot fodder >D

But especially the ones with Ministry jobs! Please reference a feckless and harried spirit div employee or a grumpy and rumpled patent office clerk or Juliana being aggressively protective of Ross' time and attention lol

I too like when people feel comfortable enough and know my characters well enough to reference them!

Daff...
  • always has flowers in her hair, which is almost always falling out of whatever it was twisted into.
  • is probably wearing an apron and probably has dirt or charcoal on her face.
  • talks to herself often.
  • is physically incapable of showing up somewhere empty-handed, flowers and treats for everyone.
  • will talk to anybody about anything, legit anything, she's the girl that makes friends in line at the grocery store.
  • is a pretty physically affectionate person, touch is definitely her love language.

Elsie...
  • has come a long way; she's calm and confident, especially at work, but it shows more in how she carries herself and conducts herself socially, which if you've known her for a while, will be a noticeable change.
  • lives her life by writing lists and always has a pencil and small notebook on hand.
  • looks at her husband with a gross level of adoration, even in public.

Mason... (I especially love when students reference him, even negatively!)
  • was made for teaching. He keeps his class fresh and tries new things. Students should know he has high expectations, but know he is going to set them up for success if they put in the work and effort. He won't put up with shit, but will pull kids aside and speak to them individually. His detentions are usually bad enough (hello spreading fresh fertilizer) that people are not repeat offenders.
  • is getting better about being inside the castle now that he's HoH and not hiding in the greenhouses.
  • accepts NEWT students with an A because he knows his class is pivotal for a lot of careers and he will specifically work with students who need the outside help to be where they need to be by exams.
  • assigns a long-term semi-sentient plant project to all incoming OWL students, they have a special section of a greenhouse and are expected to be kept alive through testing!

Quin...
  • sneaks the street urchins free treats and this is no well-kept secret.
  • also talks to himself a lot, especially in the kitchen, anyone who is around when he's being an evil mastermind will know this.
  • generally looks like he's a bit of a mess, sleeves rolled up, super casual all the time.

Additions in green above and more characters below on 1/1/24

Alvin...
  • suffers from imposter syndrome big time.
  • used to be outgoing and charming, now is more reserved, but thoughtful.
  • is self-conscious about the burns marring his left hand/arm, but gloves are uncomfortable for long periods, so he can't wear them, except for short spurts.
  • has very limited mobility in that hand, no good grasp, the rest of his arm works fine.
  • is a fairy talented artist for someone who doesn't love it as much as he could, he however, cannot create moving paintings.

Eugene...
  • is super focused on being Hogsmeade's best single father ever.
  • is a low-key romantic, despite all of his failures in this aspect of his life.
  • loves music and to read detective novels.
  • reads to Theseus every night before bed.
  • has two nifflers, a mother and daughter, Ginger (red in color) and Sage (dark grey), they're pretty well-trained, but still ~niffler-y

Greer...
  • does not understand how people live in this cold.
  • has a hard time understanding some of the local terms for things.
  • is a new hot cocoa addict.
  • is very... straightforward and often forgets to filter her words.
  • has a wide range of expressions; often forgets not to "make that face out loud".

Nigel...
  • for someone so tall, he is very uncoordinated; it shows in his dancing and in tripping over flat surfaces.
  • avid reader, both of fiction and nonfiction.
  • kind to a fault.

Reference any and all of my characters, I will never not be pleased. XD

This is what I have for now:

Harry
  • {*]He tutored a lot at Hogwarts, and is actually a pretty patient teacher.
  • He specializes in solutions to ~unusual problems. He's the Alternative Medicine guy.
  • He's actually really good at remembering people. If you've ever had a significant encounter with him, he probably remembers you.

James
  • If he doesn't have to be inside, he probably isn't.
  • He usually has a book with him.
  • It is very easy to convince him to help with (harmless) mischief. Distressingly easy, one might say.

I love referencing characters doing things off-screen and would love it if you reference mine. Drop me a @mention or link me if you do so I can read it. I'm also happy to develop any of these into threads or whatever they inspire.

Millie Potts
  • is usually reading some fiction novel and will gladly recommend one both Muggle and Wizarding, she happily hypes mystery, romance and adventure stories.
  • often goes barefoot in comfortable spaces like common rooms and her home/dorm.
  • is quite good at Charms and Transfiguration for anyone in need of an example or study buddy. Is quite awful at Astronomy and middling in Potions for anyone in need of the opposite.
  • enjoys rumors and gossip in case you don't know how your character learned something, Millie probably repeated it from somewhere else.
  • has a cat who acts like he has the run of the castle or grounds, if you have a feline stalker or phantom in your sights, it might be the siamese cat Houstonia with a blue and green eyes.
  • can often be found nestled in a tree or the (window) seat with the best light for reading.

Charley Goode
  • currently works at Benevolence Crouch's Montague's House of Flowers, and probably does a rough job of it. If you need bad floral advice, a mangled flower delivery, or a reason why the shop plants look sad, she's your girl.
  • will pickpocket or palm unsecured valuables, especially food, on the street.
  • often climbs and runs across rooftops, for anyone in need of a random roof tile falling or to witness a climbing urchin.
  • tells tall-tales and makes grandiose claims, for anyone (especially fellow children) who want a source for their "I heard from" stories.
  • speaks in a street cant that's an amalgam of different cities around England if you need a young character to learn a new (especially bad) slang term from.
  • dresses like a boy and is quite unladylike, should anyone need a bad example to point out or use for argument's sake.

Wee!! I love when people reference my muses; it makes me feel all special! Please let me know if you do so I can see!!
Um, here are some things about my muses that might be fun to add or reference! Smile

Cornelius Flint
  • He is incredibly sensitive about the organization of his things; do not touch them because you will mess them up and he’ll get anxious
  • Literally do not touch anything in the Flint Institute Library, he will get it for you if you ask, just don’t touch alkjdfa;
  • Gets hyperfixated on his nerd shit and will keep ranting about his discoveries if you let him, so feel free to just kinda walk away
  • When focused on his work, you can literally walk in, speak to him, and leave and he will not remember it happening
  • Despite looking like a nerd who never leaves his desk, he’s an incredible duelist and will wow you if you let yourself underestimate him
  • Is always writing letters to experts on artifacts and such for his research so maybe he’s written to one of your characters
  • Fluent in a lot of languages, so when talking shit about him, pick something a bit less common (but not ancient)
  • He’s an occlumens and legilimens so careful what sort of secrets you might be hiding or trying to get from him
  • Nothing bores him more than politics; he does not care about this ministerial race and almost fell asleep during the debate
  • He adores Lucretia and Thaddeus and is protective of them; do not think he won’t fight you for their honor
  • He has been in the Daily Prophet once and Witch Weekly once! :D

Dusty McSootFace
  • Nobody knows why one day he just showed up in the slums, but he did, and he’s often found napping on people’s porches
  • His mannerisms and speech are far more posh and upper class sounding than your average street kid
  • He tends to follow Charley Goode around like a lost puppy and listens to what she tells him
  • He is really good with animals and magical creatures if you need a small child to be a pet whisperer for you

Elisabeth Champagne
  • If you’re from the magical world and ever bought champagne or wine from France, you have definitely heard of Champagne Vineyards
  • She has a strong Parisian accent, though she makes an effort to enunciate so that people don’t misunderstand her words
  • Is a touchy-feely person; she likes hugs, holding hands, pokes on the side, etc. when with her friends
  • She loves pet-names and nicknames and tends to call people them over their actual name if you allow it
  • She is Dorian Rosier’s first cousin! Your character may have heard about her through him or about him through her
  • Regularly gets treats from her parents in France that she might share with the other Pendergast Roses!
  • Her older brother, Laurent, is plays Quidditch professionally for France’s national team
  • Enjoys music, tends to be found in the music room singing or playing violin or piano
  • Speaks a handful of languages and is happy to help any other Pendergast student study them
  • Wants to be an alchemist and/or potioneer so bad that she’s always found with stacks of books on the subject to study them
  • Loves writing letters! If you become her friend, she would love to write you letters and send you little gifts
  • If you visit Rosier Manor, you may find her white Persian cat, Princesse, wandering around and maybe trying to eat Elysian
  • As of September 1893, she is in mourning for her Uncle Lucien, so she will be in proper attire and more solemn than usual
  • Has a big interest in politics and feminism; does your Rose need to know something about that? Maybe she told them!

Hyacinth Valenduris
  • She is blind and guides herself around the castle with her wand (if you’ve ever played Hogwarts Legacy, think of Ominis Gaunt)
  • All of her books are in braille, but she knows a charm to switch them back to text and then back to braille whenever is necessary
  • Because of her poor constitution and weak muscles, she is prone to fainting spells and might faint right in front of you
  • She is an ambulatory wheelchair user, meaning, sometimes she uses her chair and sometimes she doesn’t; it can float over stairs!
  • She knows a ton about flower language and likes to give people flowers with their accurate meanings
  • She likes to do flower pressing, as well, and make little art designs with them, purely by touch or with the help from a friend
  • Her big sister is the ever so terrifying Amarantha Valenduris so uhhh be nice to her
  • She has a white Turkish Angora kitten named Heidi, after the titular character from Heidi, so you might see her around the castle
  • She can play the piano, but what’s actually most striking is that Hyacinth has perfect pitch and sings beautifully
  • She keeps a diary and loves to write letters; she does this by using a quill that she dictates to out loud (expect loads of letters from her!)

Jessamine Parkinson
  • XOXO Gossip Girl! She will spread just about any rumor she hears just because she can; need a reason to have heard a rumor? She probably told you
  • Is incredibly vain and you can assume she’s looking at herself in a mirror or fixing her hair or fretting over her skin or something
  • Besties with Francesca Garlick - if you know her, you probably either have met Minnie or have at the very least heard of her
  • President of the Transfiguration Club! If you want to mention you saw her at a club, helped with a meeting, etc. it’s probably canon
  • She has an incredibly expressive face and it’s nearly impossible for her to hide her thoughts on what you just said; prepare for brutal honesty
  • Melodramatic and you can assume she’s whining or complaining about something that has been announced rather than keeping it on the inside
  • Has an interesting family to say the least; check her profile for what’s on public record, but it’s gossip worthy and she hates it
  • As of September 1893, she’s in mourning for her elder sister so you can see she is wearing mourning jewelry and seems to cry a lot
  • HATES with all caps, Liliana Parkinson for being a bastard and quite publicly looked displeased in all her brother’s wedding photos
  • Adores Basil Foxwood as her mentor and will basically do whatever he says; a total teacher’s pet to the annoying degree
  • Currently studying to be an animagus so maybe you will see her checking out books on the subject or practicing!
  • Plays Wizard’s Chess all the time and is phenomenal at the game; she might invite you to come play if you’d like
  • Thanks to all the business with her family, she is well practiced at basic healing charms and might be able to help you

Thomas Pembroke
  • Was incredible at Quidditch back at Hogwarts, was even Captain, and was rumored to be offered to play professionally before he turned it down
  • Spent nearly a decade working at the Muggle Liaison Office; did you need help during this time? Maybe you knew him from there!
  • Despite not working there anymore, he still accepts requests for diplomatic help when he’s not at Hogwarts, especially in Irvingly
  • Hugely into activism; he’s anti-purist, anti-classism, pro-halfbreed and being rights, pro feminism, and attends rallies during the summer
  • Has an open door policy at Hogwarts; students can come and use his classroom as a safe space, talk to him in his office, etc.
  • Mentors muggleborn students, especially first years, who need more help adjusting to life in the wizarding world
  • Zero tolerance for usage of anti-muggle slurs; he gives harsher punishments than most for usage of them in his presence
  • Is a huge nerd for muggle inventions and has a ton just decorating his classroom that he often uses for lessons but some are just there
  • At his home in Irvingly, he has a cute Pembroke Welsh Corgi running around; babysat by his sister during the Hogwarts term

Beautiful Set by MJ ♡ !
#10

  • sometimes mixes in French into her daily vocabulary; this usually displays itself not in random words but in exclamations and instances where she's too flustered in some way to use English. Examples are: zut! (shoot!) /oh, la! (oh!)/hein? (what?; informal)/aïe! (ouch!)/ euh... (um...)/ouf! (phew)
  • was rarely seen without her twin Aristide Selwyn at Hogwarts, despite having been in separate houses; some may have thought their being nearly in sync with each other a little off putting (though there were never any vibes or rumors of anything lascivious xD)

  • owns an Apothecary in Magical London
  • he's never been the 'approachable' kind of person; has a bit of unsettling vibe about him; even more so when he stares at you
  • if you've ever seen him with Basil Foxwood he seems more calm and at ease than anywhere else

  • used to be Head Auror before going missing on a mission in 1887; was found by Ari Fisk later that year and re-joined the aurors in 1888
  • owns Sterling Stables in Hogsmeade
  • goofy and lively just about anywhere (though recently he's very withdrawn and quite depressed)

  • often performs small acts of windless magic; one of his most common ones is to conjure a fireball in his hand for light, or a small flame on his finger tip if he needs to light a cigarette or candle
  • his office door is often open unless it's a meeting
  • has a picture of him and Malou at their wedding on his desk, and individual pictures of his children hanging on the wall
  • keeps the pocket watch that Malou gifted him on his person at all times

  • when a bartender at the Hog's Head, she often took in street-urchins if they needed shelter and gave them hot meals whenever they needed, and cleaned them up if they got into fights
  • often had to break up bar fights at the Hog's Head
  • has deadly aim with a knife that she carries concealed on a chain at her waist

  • picked up using her wand as a mahl stick from Louisa. While Louisa just uses her wand, Irene commissioned a small hollow rod fixed with a softball on the end in which to insert her wand so it doesn't get paint on it.
  • if she's not using her wand as a mahl stick, she has a tendency to put her wand between her teeth if she needs to temporarily use both hands.
  • very often is late to things and could often be seen running through the streets of Hogsmeade with paint supplies
  • loved to paint in Padmore Park, and would often hand out her sketches of people that she did
  • left Hogsmeade without really saying good bye to anyone at the beginning of June 1893; will likely not be seen there anymore
  • more often than not had paint streaks on her face and charcoal paw-prints on her clothes courtesy of her large, color changing cat

  • to avoid fighting over the Daily Prophet, Eamon and Lowri eventually had to put in multiple subscriptions for the DP for the family (they tried simply duplicating the paper when they first got it, but after a wayward duplication spell ended in an entire second breakfast table nearly crushing them all, Lowri thought the multiple subscriptions was worth the smaller investment)
  • attempted to enforce a 'no wands at the breakfast table' rule
  • loves dancing at events
  • not a very strict mother, though she can be fickle
  • kind of like Morticia Addams Lite™
  • has a lady's maid/assistant named Sophia Miller whom she often calls Millie; while she's very smart, Millie is often flustered and can be more than a little hapless. Lowri refuses to sack her though, and considered her almost like a daughter. It's not a secret around the Dempsey estate that Millie has a crush on Endymion Dempsey and will often accidentally drop anything in her hands if he suddenly walks into the room

  • in possession of eyes large enough to border on slightly unsettling if she doesn't blink for a long time; there's a possibility she might appear catatonic. When interviewing for a story, she can often adopt this expression as well, and is quite skilled at writing on a piece of parchment without looking at it (even without using Pittman Shorthand).
  • has the tendency to lean forward on the balls of her feet as if she's about to leap up and take flight somewhere
  • wears her reporters badge when out in the field
  • sometimes has ink stains on her hands
  • she is a fair reporter in her Daily Prophet articles, and tries to tell the truth no matter the consequences
  • used to be extremely angry as a child; would often throw temper tantrums and pull mean pranks on her siblings
  • cannot swim
  • sticks her nose where it doesn't belong, and can often be the devil on your shoulder if she's with you and smells a lead on a story
  • has been escorted away from crime scenes on more than one occasion

  • is terrible at keeping surprises a secret
  • is used to using her hands as tools; she gestures often when she talks
  • is the welcome witch at Evergardens, which is owned by her family
  • loves the smell of eucalyptus
  • is allergic to eucalyptus
  • is directionally challenged; despite knowing the layout of Evergardens backwards and forwards, she can still often get lost if she's deep in thought
  • will stand at the entrance of Evergardens on sunny or rainy days and hand passers by large Colocasias to use as umbrellas
  • is a Seer; the way she experiences visions, it feels as if she's been physically shoved through a small tunnel, or hit in the abdomen. As a result, she often falls down wherever she's standing when she has them. Most of the time she comes out alright however there are times when she gains light bruises and sprained ankles. On rare occasions when she's on top of a ladder, they're a bit more severe and require her to take a break from work.
  • has an extremely mischievous fox named Tchaikovsky that follows her around. Thai (or Chai, after her favorite beverage) is allergic to Wisteria, which also happens to be his favorite plant to roll around in

OKAY SO I LOVE THIS. Y'all can reference any of my characters you want anytime, especially my Ministry/public figure ones <3

Here are some of my headcanons:

EDRIC:
    — Used to be super uptight in the workplace as an auror but is actually pretty laid back now that he's in the Dept. MAC. He's very particular about correct procedures being followed and makes sure regular drills are conducted, but in conversation he's friendly with his employees. He's very much a "if you work hard I'm going to let you know I see it" kind of boss, but also a "if you're clearly not trying you're getting reassigned elsewhere" kind of person.
    — He values authenticity and can sniff out a kiss-up.
    — The Dept. MLE probably hates him because he sends his employees over there all the time to file reports, cross-check information, and collaborate on things that could probably be handled by his department alone but could be handled more thoroughly with both departments.
    — I headcanon that he overworks his secretary, who in my head is an upper MC/lower MC spinster who he continuously promises to find a nice husband so she won't have to put up with his nonsense anymore. Someone should make her for the funsies.

HOLLY:
    — Is obsessive about being the top of her class in Potions and DADA
    — If your character is around her age and isn't another UCPB, they've probably been picked on by Holly at some point. It might have been a little snide comment in class or full out bullying, but feel free to assume she's just been a bitch to your character.

I will update this with more later <3
