Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

January 9th, 1893 — Potions Dungeon
' Alright my eager young scholars, this afternoon we will be attempting the Boil-Cure Potion' he instructed. 'This potion requires a base potion, which is rather complex to make, and I've provided that for you. Please collect a sample from the potion at the top of the room before beginning the rest of the concoction. He indicated his own desk and the large cauldron of pearlescent liquid that bubbled there.
'There are a number of techniques that could be used to create a boil-cure potion, you may use any you prefer.' he explained before, with a clap of his hands, the door to the store cupboard opened to allow them access.
Meserimus will move through the desks and 'grade' the potion every time you post, and there will be a weighted final score for the final potion. If you post 3 times you 'completed' the potion.
1-5 -potion backfires
6-10 - doesnt work
10-20 - Fine potion
25 + Great potion
30+ exceptional

Lincoln had found that he particularly enjoyed making Potions. It was fun for him even if he didn't always get it right. He went up and got himself some of the base potion and put it onto his workstation. Then he went and got himself the ingredients that he would need before getting started on the potion once he was back at his cauldron.

After getting himself some of the base potion, Eros went to work gathering up his ingredients. Once he had everything he needed, he got his cauldron heated up and began his potion.

Once she had the base potion in hand, Lucy lined up her ingredients in a neat little row on the table next to her cauldron. She read the instructions three times before she even dared to begin. It wouldn't do to make a mess of things. Somewhat satisfied that she knew what she needed to do, Lucy began brewing her potion.
As if one potion weren't enough they were tasked with making a base too. More room for failure, Kitty was sure. But she did try, getting the base ready and beginning on the boil cure. At least the heat of the cauldrons was driving off the chill of the dungeons.

Tao wasn't entirely sure how he felt about potions yet, but he wasn't one to shy away from a challenge. He liked learning, and he wanted to find his niche. His eyebrows knit together as he read over the instructions a handful of times before he nodded to himself, ready to finally begin making it; his feet dragged him to the front to grab his ingredients before he was back in his seat waiting for his cauldron to heat up. Then he leaned forward to being crafting it.
Classes like this really served to highlight how different the two girls were in personality even if they looked identical and it was highlighted even further when Rowan choose to sit next to Lucy rather than her friends. Her sister's side of the table was neatly organized and the instructions laid out in clear sight. Rowan's side on the other hand was starting to look a bit like some sort of small animal had run through knocking things over. She'd resorted to her typical method of choosing a technique - randomly pointing to the page. But in comparison to their first lesson, at least she'd felt like she settled into a rhythm - and knew what most of the basic ingredients were now.
Honoria took a seat at one of the high benches, casting a sidelong glance at Odessa, who returned the look at having been separated. Before beginning to work on potion, pulling together the resources she would need to work on her potion, her blue quill flying over her paper as she first made a list of all of things she would need, and then ticked them off as she worked.

Meserimus made his way up and down the rows of the aspiring potioneers, some of the attempts were better than others, and rather surprisingly Mister Mohr's attempt was looking rather hopeful. By contrast Miss Tatting's potion had congealed at the bottom of her cauldron in a lump of molten slag. He took a little time to help her fix the potion, before encouraging the students to proceed with the next stage of the potion.
Honoria was relatively pleased with her potion. It was far from the best of the class but she hadn't embarassed herself either. She knew her mother would have expected better but she could leave with it for now. She would have to make sure she joined the potions club for some extra practice. Miss Fraser, who ran it seemed like a nice girl, and she was head girl - a position her mother expected her one day hold. There were worse people to get extra classes from.
The professor didn't say anything good or bad about his potion so Lincoln assumed that he was doing a good job. He moved on to the next phase of the potion, being extra careful with the stirring steps.
The base completed Kitty followed the directions to start on the actual boil potion. Each step she tried to complete as carefully as possible, perhaps, just perhaps, the potion would turn out alright.

Lucy shot her sister a sympathetic look as Rowan's potion failed. Thankfully, she seemed to be having more luck so far, and was on to the next stage of the potion.

Elisabeth held her head high and haughty as she carefully skimmed her potions textbook to make sure that she had all of her ingredients gathered beside her on the desk, knowing that since she was naturally gifted at this particular subject, she probably would do very well. Still, she paid close attention to what Professor Valenduris had to say, not wanting to take any chances in messing anything up. When she began to work on her potion, she tried not to let anything distract her, but she did roll her eyes when she heard small whispers about Rowan's failed potion. Perhaps if she had something Elisabeth wanted, she would be willing to tutor her before the next potion's lesson.
Rowan's face flushed as red as the Gryffindor scarf she'd discarded on her bench as Professor Valenduris corrected her potions, feeling quite like the whole class had to be watching her. She muttered her thanks as he left, promising to better follow the instructions but shot a glare towards her sister. She didn't want pity.
