Eros Mohr vs. Millie Potts
#1
10 December 1892 — Hogwarts Great Hall
Dueling Tournament

Being back at Hogwarts brought up emotions - memories that Ben wasn't quite ready to reminisce. After reading the rules, he bade Mr. Mohr to begin.

After observing the pleasantries, Eros decided to start off with the Immobulus spell. The girl wouldn't be able to cast her spell if she couldn't move in the first place was his reasoning.

The young witch stood facing her second-year opponent, trying not to think that held any meaning. She was proficient enough in Charms class, it was in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classes that Millie needed more work. Perhaps a second year for an opponent wouldn't be so bad, as she eyed the younger boy. If she could just get a spell in before Mr. Mohr, she might be able to make him practice his Defense.

Her face was stricken as their dueling moderator appointed Mr. Mohr to start off. Millie set her face straight as she approached the younger student, and bowed as she had been taught. Her wand was up when they turned to face each other, but young witch found herself leaping to the side shortly after, hoping to dodge the spell sent her way.

When she had her feet back under her, Millie thrust her wand at the boy and cried, "Depulso!"

Ben watched as Mr. Mohr was immediately thrown backwards. He would have been tossed into the crowd like a rag doll had there not been a barrier and cushioning charms. "Miss Potts wins the first pass." he announced as Mr. Mohr was stabilized. "Mr. Mohr, when you've recovered, please begin our second!"

Millie grinned with satisfaction as her spell hit, tossing the second year back on his behind. A thrill ran through the young witch, and she gripped her wand with tighter confidence. If she could win her duel now, even if it was against the younger Mr. Mohr, maybe she wasn't so behind in her proficiency after all. She was eager to see her opponent land on his behind again, too.

Her eagerness dissipated with the start of the next round, which was granted again to her opponent. The third year bristled at the notion, shouldn't she be the one to start this time? It wasn't fair that the young witch was constantly on the backfoot, and could only hope for success with her second wind. Willing her concentration to the duel again, Millie shut her gaping mouth and waited for Mr. Mohr's second spell to be cast.

She gasped this time instead of moving, nerves driving a chill up her spine. Like in her Defense classes, Millie found herself rattled facing a direct attack, and this one was the worst of them all. All the cleverness and ideas for counter-charms vanished, leaving her with only instinct. Fearing the loss of her only real defense, the young witch swished her tightly-gripped wand with a reactionary cry of "Protego!"

It was her only hope that the shield charm did better now than she had in the classroom.

This time it was Mr. Mohr's charm that held up strong and steady. Miss Potts' wand went flying through the air, and Ben reached up a hand to catch it. "This next point goes to Mr. Mohr," He said with a smile towards the boy. Ben released Miss Potts' wand so it could float back to her. "We'll now begin our tie breaker. Miss Potts, please proceed."

Millie wouldn't give the younger boy the satisfaction of seeing her rub her sore bottom, not for the life of her. Her eyes cast over his dashing looks and tanned skin, wishing so much she could rub them all away. The young witch replaced the strands of hair that had fallen in her eyes, accepting her wand as it floated back from the mediator.

She granted a smile to the man between them, satisfaction rearing on her face at last. One last chance to prove herself, and her moment to be first. The young witch sized up Mr. Mohr again, the second year had pushed on her defensive weakness with his disarming charm. Now, Millie decided, it was time to show him what third years had up their sleeves.

"Glacius!" Millie cried, pointing her wand at her opponent. He had started with trying to freeze her in place, it was only fair she got to return the favor, just a little colder this time.

Mr. Mohr's shield held fast, and so Miss Potts' charm bounced off before it could have any effect. "Mr. Mohr will move onto our next bracket of duels." He announced. "A valiant effort, Miss Potts."
